Quick update again - I decided to bite the bullet and use my ip*ints to get DD some the J Lo perfume for Christmas. I'm too much a coward to leave the points lying any longer and risk losing them for any reason. I still have 200+ left as I got through a survey (normally screened out of them) so I'm back up and running and just saved about £20+ on gift budget for the perfume :D

Housemoving confirmation arrived - we get the keys on 7th November, so it's all systems go. (Still won't believe I'm back living on a farm until I get there though!). :D

  • Janey, really enjoying the memories of your Mum. My Mum always refused to back grey horses, though she only put on one bet a year, on Grand National day. She liked black/dark horses, and jockeys wearing purple!

I'm doing pretty well with my spending at the moment, at £75 for the month to date. Will need some petrol very soon though! It really helps with spending when I don't have any money. Thanks to Kaupthing's delayed transfers I have £20 left in my account...

Edit: Nyk, just saw your post! Congrats on the house!

Ooh, how exciting Nyk!! :j:j You may need to adjust your budget to include a few animals next year ;) Maybe you could run 'visit a farm' days to compensate :rotfl:
Wow, £75 Lynda! I hope you get your money before you run out *crosses fingers*

taka -- I used to have a spreadsheet that calculated my nett pay once I put in the gross, and can remember most of the formulas and know where to double check the figures they used. But in order to do it I'd need a fair bit of info (such as your tax code / whether the pension is a works one, if so what rate you pay into it and if not what percentage of salary you sacrifice for it (been there, done that) / what your current salary is) which you may not want to pass on even though none of it would let me identify you as a 'real' person to stalk you. If you want me to have a 'play' I'm happy to, but best done by PM.

Thank you for the offer! You have just reminded me I had a spreadsheet set up last year on my old computer. I must have that somewhere still as I'm sure it must have been backed up along with everything before that comp died its final death... Hmmmmmm...

:rotfl: Bails - the moon definitely has a lot to answer for in my case too :o

:T :T :j :j   :j :j :T :T Yeah Nyk!! Congratulations! I bet you are relieved! Were they just on holiday yesterday then?

I hope you get your money soon Lynda!

Apparently there was a local public holiday here yesterday (haven't a clue what it was for) and there's a post office holiday next Monday.

Bails, I have been thinking about budgeting for the pets already - DS really misses having a dog and I always had cats and the first person I told was my friend the vet, who treats the newcomers at the local cat rescue. I also know the guy who runs it, so finding animals needing rehoming shouldn't be too difficult [strike]if[/strike] when the time comes. That'll need to be a mini-challenge on its own - earning the pet pennies! :rotfl: DS pays the keep for his guinea pig and OH2B pays for the finches but there is certainly scope there for another challenge. (This from someone who already did yearly challenges to keep a horse or 5, but that was way back in the last century! :o)

Taka...We finally found out our pay increase this year as the RPI figures are out. Looks like we get a 5% increase (It was whichever is highest out of RPI or 2.5% - agreed 3 years ago)

Yippieeee..just found out the same applies to me, although we only get it payed in November, but that means we get the increase for October and November together. Perfect for Christmas.

Taka....may actually be able to start proper overpayments on my mortgage next year .Part of the reason for me doing this challenge is I'm hoping my mortgage will be gone before I turn 44 ...

Wish we could do that too. But the mortgage is in my BFs name (moved into his flat) and he's a bit stubborn about money (like why save:mad:) so there's no way I can make him pay the mortgage early. Maybe once we buy together.

To those who want to phone 0870, 0845 - try Saynoto0870.com - type in company name or 0870, 0845 number and it gives you the geographic alternative. Using the geographic number rather than the national number is included in your inclusive minutes on mobiles even if 0870 and 0845 aren't.

In other news, I have only £97 left to live on this month. I will probably need to renew my train pass (£40) and shop (£45) so no social life for me until November!
