This is what happens when I let myself lose in the village with my purse when I am tired, stressed, wound up and going down with cold. I have dropped off from the "no alcohol wagon"
I am waiting for appropriate punishment
(nooooo, I won't grill my guinea pigs.....)

Looking at the spends for the year it does make you realise what luxuries and services we now take for granted which really we could live without. Thinking back a couple of decades we lived quite happily without mobile phones, broadband, cable tv channels, etc and it is interesting that these are even affordable now on a limited budget.
As you say Nyk - if you stripped away the niceties the essential cost of living would be even lower.0 -

It's a good point about what constitutes essentials and luxuries, really does make you think. The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

cost of living must be very low for ex OH - this really really takes the biscuit. He's just visited (unannounced) to bring Christmas pressies, DS not here so no idea yet what he got, but DD had a box of Lyles Golden Syrup flapjack dipped in Belgian Chocolate. That's it!
Later she said it doesn't matter, she got lots of nice things from me and the rest of my family, and from her BF and friends. Not the point though. Ex OH also brought birthday present for DS (his birthday was in May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Would rather he didn't bother than be so mean.
Sorry, rant over.
So sorry to hear about your dog, SF, sending you big hugs ((((((((((((()))))))))))))
Maru, don't beat yourself up over one day - think how well you've done (and how much money you've saved)

Sorry to hear that Lingo, no wonder you're mad! I'm glad DD can focus on all the lovely things she got from others, but still. The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

 I can't even imagine mine visiting my house for ANYTHING! In fact, when DD and DGD were living with us, he posted her a letter TO THE POST OFFICE rather than writing my address on an envelope. :rotfl: Mind you, this is the man who went nuts wanting his 'name back', I'm guessing so that there weren't two of us using Mrs his-name! Or three of us, if you count his mum.:rotfl: Ex's are only there to remind us to rant now and again and to remind us of what we do and don't want for the future, that's my theory.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I am just in the right amount pickled with fortified wine that I really can cheer for that :T. Except mine has promised to take DD out again tomorrow so in here things are getting better.
Thanks SM, Bails and Lingo, I am just so angry as I am drinking to escape not to enjoy the stuff. Anyhoo. As you said tomorrow is a new day."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Finally bust the budget for 2008:eek:
Have booked two places on a chicken keeping introductory course:p for 31st of Jan for me and my friend. This means I will end the year £4.36 overbudget:DJust hope we don't have an emergeny spend tomorrow:rotfl:
Hopefully by the end of Jan will have go ahead for my chickens, (I am thinking positive here) and can see about picking them up. Ideally would like a couple of the gingernut rangers.:D0 -
