Evening all,
I'm just in from food shopping, I have almost everything I need now, just to get a lettuce, baby prawns and a chicken (these are all requests of my sister's), oh and some fish for my brother who does not eat meat.
I got a ham from costco and a turkey from tesco, they did not have any turkey crowns left, I'll be eating turkey for 6 months:eek: . The turkey is massive!!!
I actually might make a turkey and ham pie, it should be quite straightforward, just a white sauce and some turkey and ham chopped up. This will be a nice dinner on Friday night methinks, or it might be a curry, I'll have a think about that one. I'll just need to get tomorrow and thursday out of the way first. I'll cook the turkey and make the soup tomorrow night as I want to visit the prince (wee nephew) on Christmas morning to see him with his toys. He is only a year, so he will wonder what is going on!!! The sisters can deal with the table arrangements and I will do the cooking. Mum has only to make her secret gravy and a trifle and that will be us all set I hope.
Catch you all tomorrow,
xx0 -

We had the ham from costco today and it was beautiful, really moist and tasty:D .0 -
I can't sleep, I'm just back from Tesco, so got the lettuce, chicken and small prawns. My mum will need to get fish for my brother today. Was going to make a cheesecake as well, but will just let mum do the trifle, it's a tradition. If she's not fit, I will have a bash at it, how hard can it be???
I'm going to cut the ham up sophiesmum, and make soup with some of it and roast the rest. Do you have any useful tips for it?
I'll need to go to bed soon, had a look to see if superdrug sale had started but it is midnight tomorrow, so might miss it after all.

I slowcooked ours for about 5 hours in sc first then gave it a blast in oven on 180 to crisp it up. Once it cools it is much easier to slice, and that way it stays really moist. You can then portion it up to use for slicing and soups etc.
If you have the 6.5 litre slow it will fit just tie lid down.26 people had a big slice each of ours and there ws still some left enough for soups etc.:D
Another xmas meal with oldies tonight , doing turkey breast roasts(2) for this one, hope they are tasty as that is what I have got for tomorrow along with one of the hams.CW is coming along again to help:A
Also doing some sandwiches and bits for them first around lunchtime so they are getting really spoiled today, but after tonight they will be on their own for a week0 -
And I'm up......
Still trying to "humanize" myself a bit, but I certainly crashed well last night :rotfl:
Think last night was the first night in a couple of months I actually went to bed before midnight !!! Slept really well, and wasn't happy when my alarm started to "sing" this morningCheryl0 -

Don't worry you can have a good sleep tonight after we wear you out today:D - I fell asleep on chair last night whilst on laptop and woke up this morning at 6am:eek:  - still had laptop on knee but it did keep me nice and warm;) OH had gone to work and DD decided to just leave me there:rolleyes: It is a comfy chair though:rotfl:0 -
The update from me is that Nan's op went fine. She had two stents fitted rather than the one originally planned. She was very groggy and nauseous last night, so on lots of medication, but they are still saying she will be fit to leave hospital today.
We have decided to rearrange our Christmas plans, so I'll be having Christmas dinner with bf then driving to Cambridge to see the family. Dad will have dinner with his sister, and Nan will go to her brothers as he's very close by. Then Boxing Day I'll cook the meal for me, Dad and Nan.
Last day at work today, and I've done everything I needed to already. Just the party to look forward to now! Just have to occupy myself for 2 hours before the party starts....
Merry Christmas everyone :xmassign:Live on £11k in 20110 -
