Tesco's deals?

Be aware that Tesco 'price hikes' many products in store to compensate for all the 'price reductions'. so you will not be saving in the long run. They just want to get you in their stores. My experience of this last week was Fairy washing liquid £3.93.Wilkinsons selling at £2.50. Tesco selling Beechams all in one £4.? . Wilkinsons £2.71. I am a person who always looks at the prices and my local store has been doing this for a long time. (has anyone else noticed ?) Is this why they were able to announce another good profit today?
Surely with such buying power the big stores could keep prices lower or are they inflating prices because they know we are expecting to pay more at the mo.
My money saving tip to anyone would be, if your in your local town buy alot of your shopping there (wilkinsons, savers, poundland etc) .It certainly works out cheaper for me. Maybe certain supermarkets will realise we have other choices!

You could always avoid buying branded items which will always be more expensive than the store's own version - the comparison sites etc cannot really measure these as they are not like for like, but they would probably give a better idea of where savings can be made with supermarket shopping.0

thanks. you are right comparison sites are helpful. But my point is that the supermarkets have excessive prices.0

it's a shop, in business to make money so of course it's going to mark-up prices. Why pick on Tesco? why not HMV who charge £13.99 for a CD that Tesco charges £8.97? why not start a post on that?!0

Of course fairy washing up liquid is expensive, its a brand as is beechams, kelloggs, thats why they sell they're own products of a similar or better/worse quality than the branded items, you pay for the name eg fairy liquid may cost £3.93 but tescos own washing up liquid is 70p which would do the same job as fairy,0 -
I agree with the op, if something is £1 in tesco but 80p elsewhere then fair enough you go elsewhere however what i noticed a while ago was how the price can change so drastically from week to week. an item i bought regluarly was £3.74 often on offer at £3 or 2 for £6, then the normal ticket price went to £3.20 (was pleased at lower regular price) then the next week it shot up to 3.97. I sought a manager to complain about it (I do understand that she wasnt responsible but thought at least maybe the comments could be passed on - want consistent prices (ok and lots of offers on top!). how can you budget your weeks shopping when the prices change so dramatically week to week?0
