Evening all
Rummer have you got any piccys of your pond? I got all the stuff to make one from freecycle but I'm not really sure where to begin, any pointers would be much appreciated
Shaz regarding the old seeds I'd just scatter them and see what comes up - I don't expect much from most things I do in the garden only to be astounded by brill results :j
Been to the allotment for a good couple of hours to do some more weed removal and general tidy up, then realised my wonderful tool (no idea what its called - small tool with 3 claw like things!!) was left at home so thought I'd come back and do a bit of gardening here instead, got everything ready to go down tomorrow, and have been helpfully informed I need to get my broadbeans and peas in ASAP along with my onions  Oh and have made mental note to never be caught eating a pot noddle by Tom again - satan food apparantly with no nutritional value - whoops (actually it was pretty mingy).
Have a brill evening all, just off for a glass of wine and a long soak in the tub - I ache :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Laura, sadly my camera has died so not pics but it has been quite straight forwards so far. I marked out the pond using flour then dug it out leaving ledges around the outside for frogs, plants and other beasties. Then I patted down the earth and covered it with a thick layer of sand. Next I stretched the liner over the pond and secured it with bricks and finally filled it with water, the liner stretched to fit the contours of the pond. Tomorrow I will get stones and gravel and finish off the edges of it. That I think will be the tricky bit!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Thanks Rummer that should be enough to get me started - how inventive using flour to mark out very impressive. When I eventually get round to starting that project I'll let you know how it goes :T0 -
I just wanted to say WOW! TismE, what a fantastic find with that giant greenhouse! I know what I'd have been like if that had been me, so you must have been absoloutely overjoyed! If that gets sunshine then I'd have as many seedlings potted into any container I could find so they're ready to go as soon as there's ground space for them. Well done on a superb find!
Just broke the ice on the hens' water dishes and it's thick, freezing fog here at the moment but I'm keeping positive about the weather - it WILL stay dry enough to work on the new hen runs and move the potting table etc into the new tomato house. It isn't anywhere near the size id TismE's or, even Shaz' new shed, but it's cute and it has space for my tomatoes and peppers plus there's space all around it for pots, tubs and containers. :j
Here is my latest 'acquisition' - it's half of a salvaged conservatory, but I have the rest of the glass panels in case we ever want an extension. :rotfl:
Rummer, you need to get those batteries recharged, I'm dying to see your pond as I haven't started my pond project yet. I have about 12 weeks before that needs completed for the arrival of the ducks
Loving everyone's photographs! Have a great gardening weekend, everyone, and don't forget to take your cameras!
It's almost BBQ time of year already! :beer:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Do any of you wonderful people know if I can make my own mulch mats? They just look like a bit of black membrane stuff or are they more special than that?
Any thrifty garden ideas would be appreciated.
Nyk your new shed/ conservatory/ greenhouse is amazing it looks absolutely brill
Happy gardening all :-)0 -

Yoy can see at the start of the video the bed that I'd made a start on. I've now completed that bed, and sorted out the compost bins at the end.0 -
Hi Guys n Gals .......... what a lovely day here
! Been down the lotty most of the day and we're a tad tired ! Just off for a bath to de-stiffen
, will catch up on your escapades shortly.
I must just tell you our good news though - we've got the WHOLE plot :j :j :j :j , all 10 rods, we found out earlier today. Our sharer has a few family problems at the moment so she's said the plot is ours and we can do what we like with it:eek:- just when I thought we'd finished digging  :rotfl: . She's going to try and change it into our names next year (January) when the rent is due - no point doing anything just yet as this year is paid for and we're not sure if we'll be allowed to 'inherit' it - time will tell ! What a fantastic Mothers Day pressie though - I couldn't be happier :j :j !
Right I must go for a bath otherwise i'll be stuck in my computer chair for the next 2 days unable to move.

Haven't done any work at the allotment since Friday, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms - is this normal??
Spent Saturday attempting to remove the lid off a big blue barrel to use as a waterbutt - but got my finger caught just as I finished sawing it and had a throbing finger for the rest of the weekend, I am such a wimp thought I was going to faint
Took my mum to see the allotment on mothers day as shes been itching for a nosey, not that theres much to see yet.... And met some more neighbours who seemed just as lovely as all the other folk :j
Then back to rubbish work today via a detour to Derby (2 hours away) my course was cancelled how rubbish, although it is a lovely drive out there and it beats sitting behingd a desk all day
At least the rain we've had this afternoon should help my fruit bushes. Going to pop down to the allotment after work tomorrow, have changed my hours so I can get there for about 4.20 and get a couple of hours in before it goes dark. Very excited as I got one of those airer things that hang from kitchens from ebay for 99p so going to put that in the shed for my herbs to dry out on. Also picking up an empty window frame to make into a cold frame, and have been offered some glass on freecycle so we'll se how creative I can be. Someones also giving away some blue water piping fingers crossed he'll let me have it for my cloches. At the same time couldn't get to the allotment tonight as I was getting rid of a load of stuff from in the house on freecycle, out from the house, into the garden :T :T
Anyone been out gardening today?0
