Economy eggs - used to be 40p for six and 96p for 15. I haven't been buying eggs from the supermarket for a few months and they've put the prices up so it is actually cheaper to buy the larger pack now.

    Phillips Sonicare replacement heads 1 =£12, 2=£25

Most major stores do this with Coke/Pepsi etc. They always seem to have a deal on that means two smaller packs are cheaper than one twice the size.
This is not new and I suspect will always happen so keep a watch out for it.

Annoying thing is I don't even drink the stuff - have to buy it for the women in my life !!!

My maths may be faulty but I make the bigger pack still better value.

We only go for the happy meals now - the thing is, what do I do with all the toys, lol ;D

Store them, unopened, until they become collectors items. :D

Recent bargains include 50 Assam Tea Bags x 2 packs 30p cheaper than 100 pack. Airial QUICKWASH tablets 2 small boxes worked out over £1 cheaper than 1 large box with same no of tablets. Both Tesco. I think the Arial offer is still on.

I planned room for storing this kind of bargain in my new kitchen/ utility room and I always clear the shelves when I spot one, I hate to pay full price for things that don't go off. Don't ask how many toilet rolls are in my cupboard!! :o

Okay so I know it's not a supermarket, but McDonalds do rip-offs as well!

6 chicken nugget meal with medium fries and medium drink is £3.29

You can get 4 nugget happy meal, extra size (which gives you medium fries n drink) for £2.29, making the extra two nuggets a quid!

We only go for the happy meals now - the thing is, what do I do with all the toys, lol ;D

my mcdonalds has stopped doing the 'extra' on the happy meals. you can, however, buy a bag of 4 nuggest for 99p. a bag of 6 nuggest is £1.79!

    Message for Martin:

Why does this particular subject warrant a 'name and shame'?

It's not a crime - if it's cheaper to buy two of the smaller pack then do so!

Like Pennymakespounds above, I am also in the grocery trade. I would back up her comments - but often it's just a mistake by the time-pressured buyer at head office.

Supermarket overcharging - now that's a subject which should be a 'name and shame'. This IS a crime, but if you have been overcharged, some penny-pinching supermarkets will only give you the difference back - a nice way to recompense you would be if they gave you your money back and the item for free as an apology for the inconvenience (in the hope you won't report them to Trading Standards).

I started checking stuff like this. I found that the medium squeezy Heinz Ketchup is better VFM than the mega size one. Only by a penny or two or litre.

I found it a little odd TBH, always thought along the lines of the bigger the pack the better the value,..
