My Dad needs a simple mobile, and I'm tempted to get him the Sagem VS1, but the reception on Vodafone isn't brilliant in his area. Anyone know if you will be able to get this with another provider, or will I be able to unlock it (cheaply) and put in another sims card?

it can be unlocked by code from what i have read. take it to a local independent phone shop (look in yellow pages if you dont know of any) and phone them up before you buy the phone. i was also considering this phone for my nan, but for what it is it is expensive, a bit of a gimmick. there are plenty of other much cheaper simple basic phones out there, such as nokia 1101 (can get for around £15-20) and siemens a65, both of which are basic easy to use phones. if reception on vodafone is bad, id consider orange as they also usually have very good coverage. hope this helps, L.Fr. the reason that he'd prefer the Sagem to the Nokia or Siemens is that he finds the smaller phones difficult to use.0

thats why i was considering it for my nan, but when she saw it she couldnt cope with the small buttons, she prefers the nokia as the buttons arent so rigid u see.Fr.
