Ah thats so lovely of you not worrying about the rent, nice to know there are good people out there when someone comes in trouble, how awful for her as well just before christmas.

Well, there but for the grace of God etc. And to be honest, from a purely pragmatic point of view, I'd have to give notice, hope she left with no trouble and didn't have a long void - I could easily lose out on 3-4 months mortgage, so it makes good sense to work with her. She is a lovely woman (then again, he seemed like a lovely bloke) and wants to stay there long term - tbh though I think she'll end up leaving as it is costing her a lot to heat, although a new boiler & central heating it is a Victorian house so not well insulated. At least she's got her tree up :xmastree:and the kids seem happy
.
I too am happy. Away with work at the seaside
(though haven't seen it yet
, may get up & go for walk in the morning). Staying in a boutique B&B, greeted with a pot of tea & 2 home made cakes, fresh milk in fridge in room & home made choc chip cookies
. Nom nom nom. Oh, lovely room as well :rotfl:.
Have made a list of things to do between Xmas and New Year, it's em....... challenging. Basically, redecorate bedroom & completely overhaul pension arrangements, including researching present & new funds .
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi Gally
The B&B you're in sounds lovely. Have a nice walk onthe seafront.

Phew GG, I just found your thread yesterday and read right through it. You have been doing amazingly well. How on earth do you juggle all of that? You must be very focused.
I was hoping to let my flat out but it is on a residential mortgage with tie in til Nov 2011. I am seriously considering changing it after Christmas and suffering the consequences. Any tips would be gratefully accepted. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. I don't think I am focused - but I get bored v easily so like to potter, also I don't watch much TV which helps.
Re letting - it's ok if you have a calm disposition but if you worry then it's not for you. You need to be prepared to be interupted - I had to go round to one house on Xmas Day. Also - what type of tenant are you likely to get - you can have problems with all 'classes' but I've found the more unskilled the more problems. Ideally you want someone who, when the gutters need cleaning, will borrow the ladders from work and do it himself :rotfl:. He left after 18m unfortunately. Happy to help however I can
Nope... add me to the list too! (As to whether I actually do it is another thing but the intention to is there anyway!:rotfl:)

Oh dear, competitive painting :rotfl:I have v bad toothache & can't get to dentist till Friday. Currently on painkillers, bonjela, Sensodyne and whisky
. Ouch
So, popped into a furniture store which is closing, where I got the bedroom furniture (didn't look to see how much it was reduced to ). Saw nice table for hall, cheval mirror and large desk and bookcase. Came home to measure up, couldn't decide about mirror, drove back to shop and saw a massive shooting starDecided it was a sign from the Universe. It was. Shop had closed early for the night :rotfl:. Will try again Fri am as next to dentist.
Ouch. Need more whisky.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Forgot to say I saw Skipton were doing a 5% Regular Saver, £500 a month, variable rate but no penalties for closing. Had to be opened in branch so did it yesterday while in London. Then needed to set up an online saver account with £5 so I could view the Regular Saver online. Found out today the Regular Saver is being withdrawn on Friday
. Usually I find out about these things too late so am quite pleased. Will be funded from my current account, £500 diverted to there instead of offset. Will gain around £100 over the year. Hardly worth it really, except I need to pay £59 a day off capital on mortgages to have all paid off by 55, so that's yesterday and today nearly taken care of
.
I think I said I had sent back 2 deodorants and got sent replacements, well today I also got a letter and £3.50 voucher. Will add £3.50 to mortgage on own BTL to spur me on to use it. That's one day's interest on that mortgage sorted. Still, every little helps :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
