I'm not averse to being buried in a cardboard box though

I would put your income and circumstances as to whatever it will be on BR date. You can make comment about your income when you have your interview with the OR. You have to notify the OR within 21 days of any income change anyway so if you do go back to work, you would tell them.

Also, depending on the benefits you may get, you should also get the court fees waived on BR day but you need to know what you are getting for this.

Firstly, these are old guidlines - from 2007 and expenditure has changed a lot.

Also, an OR looks at your SOA as a whole rather than just specific bits and bobs, so whilst this is a great document, it should not be taken as "gospel". Its only guidelines and not law, so open to interpretation by us and ORs!!!

I agree that the amounts aren't exactly relevant but if you have a disposable income of say £100 and the OR wants to hit you with an IPO, you wont find OR saying 'don't forget to put something down for holiday/pets/haircuts etc'
  • but if I become employed in the period before discharge, don't I just tell the OR assigned to me? chances are I will go for a paye job which, in the north, does not pay the salary I was used to - so am guessing if I am lucky a salary of 20K I did earn the better salary - but there isn't the work there anymore plus I don't want to work in that industry anymoreso, I won't get into trouble for that will I?

Thats right Bluemonday. You tell the OR of any changes to income. But for the forms on the day. put what is relevant at that point in time.
  • just to say thanks to everyone for their posts - my computer won't allow me to use the bottom right hand side thanks - don't want you all to think I'm not grateful - I really amx

You can only fill in the forms as to what is happening to you right now. Have you booked your court date? if so when is it.

Discharge is 12 months from court date although this can be earlier as early as 6 months I think, someone else will verify.

So you have to tell the OR of any changes in the time of your BR to your discharge which as I state can be 12 months, that is the limit, or before, whatever you do let the OR know if you get work in this time, if not you could face what redline is facing now, ie not telling the truth could led to a BRO or BRU so just be honest.

    Good luck

  • is this coming Friday - 3rd October. So the paperwork will reflect the situation I'm currently in and not what could be say 3 months down the line. Thanks for your help. Things could have changed again before my OR interview anyway so will make sure I keep them up to date with any changing situation
  • My OR allowed me to include a car payment to my parents.

Basically - when I went BR I had a car on finance, this debt was included in my BR and the car was collected by the finance company. But as I needed a car for work (would have lost my job without my own transport - you can tell them this) my OR allowed me to get my family to buy a car for £5,500.00 and for me to pay them monthly at £160.00 per month. This cost was included in my SOA as well as an extra £50 per month to cover costs such as insurance, sevice, MOT and tyre etc.

My OR was in Croydon, don't know if other areas differ! Now living back home in the wonderful county of North Yorkshire WOO HOO!! :j

Get something similar into your SOA if you can.
