if you had been more careful you would have seen the payment had not gone from your acc, either you are not very careful or you realised the payment had not been taken and were hoping they wouldnt realise now you are peed off because they have realised their mistake , its not something they did to wind you up so get over it life is way too short !

i don't think it's very fair to make assumptions about the OP's intentions at the time the payment was due, mistakes happen, things are sometimes overlooked and what you stated has nothing to do with their problems right now, so it wasn't really very helpful, was it?

And if you had noticed a payment had not been taken you would have course phoned up to remind them to take it? ;)

  • I know that about 2 months ago, our local Asda took lots of payments from the accounts of customers. They said that they had a new system and it hadn't worked so all payments were coming out late and all together. They give customers money back if they had been charged for going overdrawn.

well theres no need to be rude about it is there!
i didnt post asking for your personal opinions, i posted asking if they could take payment 9 months after they should have with less than a days notice.
I will repeat again, just for those who dont seem to be able to read properly, i am not disputing that i owe them the money i am disputing that they can take it 9 months after they were supposed to without giving any notice.

werent you ever taught that if you cant say anything nice then dont say anything at all?
  • gosh that's just dreadful. The fact that people believe it is legal is one thing but to give you no notice at all - that's just ridiculous and not going to get them favourable PR is it?

There is no bright side with Asda. Nothing to do with ops post but check your receipts if you bought Robinsons Strawberry jam in Asda this weekend. Priced at 59p on shelf, bill charge £1.18. I'm sure they do this to make extra out of the people who don't check. I regularly check my receipt & am overcharged most weeks!!!!!!!!!!

As a small trader who used to take credit and debit card payments before they brought in chip'n'pin - Yes people do phone up and remind sellers to take payment, they do when I'm a bit slow at banking cheques too.

If you take your receipt to the customer service desk and point out their mistake they usually give you a gift card with £2 credit on it. I usually check my receipt now before leaving any supermarket as the mistakes are nearly always in their favour.
