Sky + What type of scart lead to connect to an LCD TV

Ooh I luv this kinda debate!
Gotta agree with aliEnRIK on this one though. Very few cables make a difference, particularly in the digital domain - coax/optical/HDMI etc, but when it comes to an RBG analogue signal it certainly CAN (not necessarily ALWAYS) make a difference. The quality of the shielding from rf interference, cross talk from other signals running alongside the scart lead, length of lead, etc can all make a difference. I've experienced this first hand with my own ridiculously complicated set-up! Maybe if you're spending a grand on a telly, a good quality cable with good quality shielding probably wouldn't go amiss!"...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -

Step on in sir
Can you please elaborate on your "own ridiculously complicated set-up"?

Apart from TVs and projector all hidden in downstairs cupboard accessed by infrared remote extenders."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
Cheers sauce
Im sure you know this like ~ but scart 'switch boxes' are never a good thing!:idea:0 -
The cable an analogue signal is transmitted over can make a difference to the electrical properties of the signal at the other end.
Whether it makes a noticeable difference, or if it does, one that's worth paying for, is open to debate.
Personally, I am of the opinion that if it does make a noticeable difference, there comes a point at which spending more money will not make any further difference unless you're watching an oscilloscope instead of a TV. A £1,000 scart lead is unlikely to perform any better than a £50 one.
As ever, you pays your money, and you takes your choice.0 -
I can see no noticable difference between the picture direct from the internal Freeview tuner on my 42px80 and the picture from my Inverto Freeview PVR box connected via a £5 (RGB) scart lead.
A fairly valid A-B comparison, I think
They are both stunning by the way !
You pays your money and makes you choice - I've made mine0 -
Nice attitude. Whatever rocks your boat, £30 on a scart for an SD transmission via Sky seems way over the top to me especially as no one has even metioned tuning the TV properly,.
My reference was to this ~
"The quality of the shielding from rf interference, cross talk from other signals running alongside the scart lead, length of lead, etc can all make a difference."
Completely true
and....nice ATTITUDE?? who attacked WHO first??
Also ~ the Thor I posted is about 14 quid on Amazon. I KNOW no information has been posted, my answer was a generalised one. MOST tvs would benefit from a decent mains 'conditioner' before the scart really comes into play. There are so many variables its impossible to answer for sure. But If the tv is prety good quality, ditto the source and mains supply then the Thor WILL make a difference.:idea:0 -

But as sources go, Sky boxes aren't all that great...0
