hello,
I have just bought a new 42" LCD, now, question, I have connected the Sky+ with a scart lead from the pound shop....is it worth buying a fancy scart lead for say £20 will i get anything better?

A standard scart will be fine.
The Sky + box is only picking up standard definition so that's all the cable has to carry.
Any cable more than a few pounds is more than you need.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -

Thanks, so there is no point splashing out £20-40 on a fancy scart lead??
It really depends on various things (quality of tv, quality of sky reception, quality of mains etc)
But on the whole yes ~ a decent scart cable will be better (certainly no worse).
I recommend a THOR scart cable (About 30 quid from richer sounds, they even have them at my local B&Q!)
My dad uses a Russ Andrews one with the 'sound' wires disconnected, it looks gorgeous on his Pioneer tv!:idea:0 -
I can't remember if Sky+ outputs an RGB signal, I expect it does, if so the key criteria for the scart is that it's an RGB scart, which should then be connected to appropriate socket on TV and the Sky+ video out settings changed to RGB (under System menu?).
This is a money saving site and people are telling you to spend £30 on a scart lead, they must be bonkers:rotfl:0 -

Ill quote (For a SHORT LENGTH of SHIELDED cables)
"AV6 RGB only scart to scart
Essential Home Cinema "absolutely breathtaking" - May 2002"
Anyone know any better step on up.........
