i'm just wondering just how hard to haggle, as i don't want to get 90% of the way and then just bomb out!
What are you afraid of here?
You are the one sitting in the dealership, you are the one who can decide to get up and walk away, the car salesman cannot. The worst that can happen is he will say "we just cannot afford to sell you the car at that price sir, we would loose money on it". At this point you can buy at the best price he has offered you or walk away and keep looking for a killer deal on a pre-reg.
There is no avoiding spending a bit of time on this, but do ask your self how much time you are prepared to invest in saving just another £100 say.

I would be surprised if you got as far as 12% (another approx. £750 off over what you have now) unless it's a car already registered which will be depreciating each month it sits on the forecourt and is tieing up a load of the dealerships cash in the process.

Yeh i guess you're right. I just dont want to agree the deal for £23,399 now and then in December, see the same car for something like £22,500!
but i guess it's all about how much risk i wanna take

i'll be interested in seeing september sales figures when they come out later this week.....

Can't you take cash on this company deal instead?

if you buy new, surely you're looking down the business end of losing £10k in the first two years of ownership?
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

What about buying the car in December for £22,500 and then seeing the same car available for £22,000 in March? ... and £21,500 in June and even further down the line seeing a new model or revised engine on the market?
How significant is £500 more on a car that's going to take £20,000+ or £555 a month over 3 years out of your finances?
Source: total cost of ownership for 36 months and 36,000 miles according to What Car?

If you like the car and want to be driving it and waiting 3 months only *might* save £500 why wait?
    I'll play devils advocate...
May be you don't actually like this car enough to spend the money on it as you are hesitating here?

4x4's not my thing, but the CR-V 2.2CDTi is a great prospect, great engine.

Hi Dangermouse, that is a good price, but i've found a broker doing the car for £21,975, which is £3575 off! Only problem with me is that i don't want to take delivery/ pay for the car until December so i am having to play the waiting game and hoping that come december, a similar (if not better) price can be had. with car sales going the way they are, i doubt prices will rise really.
