Ebay-Seller now refusing sale? Advice please.

On 26/09/08 I was successful in winning tickets for a concert. The seller contacted me to confirm my address. On paying by Paypal it went through as an echeque (not clearing til the day of the concert). I contacted the seller and offered a direct bank transfer or to send postal orders. I heard nothing over the weekend and today I have received an e-mail to say that he is withdrawing the sale as he suspects shill bidding which he has reported to ebay. On looking at the bid history there was two wthdrawn bids the day before my bid and my bid was several hours before the close of auction.
Can he really do this? I am truly gutted!

shill bidding is when the seller bids up his own item...0

Well he has and I take it any dispute will take you past the day of the concert. Unfortunate as it is looks like you have missed out. I would suspect the tickets went for less than he expected or he's had a better offer.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. So the seller is admitting that he has broken eBay rules by shill bidding. Plonker !! Sounds more like he didn't get what he wanted and sold them elsewhere. Neg him and move on because he can't neg you back.0

Sorry I didnt know this. He has sent me a copy of the Ebay response which is headed up 'Shill' bidding. What he is saying is that someone who was also selling the tickets was messing with the auction, to make their BIN more attractive!
My problem now is how do I cancel the paypal echeque?0 -
He may be using the term shill bidding incorrctly and actually mean bid shielding. Bid sheilding is where a buyer puts in a high bid to stop other bidders from bothering, then as late as he can the bid is withdrawn and he uses a different ID to buy the item at a lower price.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. From what I can see both bids were withdrawn almost immediately and a day prior to my bid.
Any advice on canceling the echeque with Paypal. It seems to read that I can only cancel if it has been sent to an unconfirmed address?0 -

Bump.....anyone?0 -
He can in reality do what he wants. Pull his details and give him a phone call that might help sort out the issue, in an amicable way.
If not the you will just have to resort to a neg. Legal action could be an option but probably not worth the hassle and you would not necessarily win.0 -
Thanks Hintza but I have moved on from there and I am trying to recover my funds which are processing. It appears I cant cancel but I have now managed to navigate the paypal into contacting someone to get back to me, hopefully with a resolution!0

The seller refunded my echeque with no hassle. I couldn't cancel from my side.
I left brief neg. feedback....refused sale.
Tonight the seller has raised an action with Ebay saying I have failed to pay!
I have responded to the seller that I have no intentions of reporting him to Ebay as it would not help/have helped the situation.
I await his response.
Where to now.0
