@stolt - love the new arrivals. have never seen a double coving before - will be interested to see it looks when finished.

as for lack of progress - we still haven't resolved things with the insurance although it was pretty close although they still wouldn't cover the items held by the police. Then we got a letter to say the guy had changed his plea to guilty so there is now a chance we may be able to get our stuff back this week and can have it assessed to see if anything needs to claimed for.

and hopefully once thats sorted we can get everything done and move on

hi latecomer, yeah i guess many people just go for the straight the coving and leave it at that we are using the bottom one to house some uplighters which will hopefully let the coving above glow. (thats the plan!!!!;););)

good news on your front, will they let you have the stuff back before the guy is sentenced?

@stolt - will await pics of glowing coving with interest :)

no idea but I'm hoping to find out today. In fact if I dont hear anything in the next 30 mins I'm going to call and try to find out.

Thankfully the insurance people are as incompetent as the loss adjuster when it comes to returning calls so we can blame them for any delays in repsonding to the settlement offer.

Latecomer, have my fingers crossed everything gets sorted out for you soon. Hugs from Liverpool to you and your family.

Builder has fixed the glazed screen by kitchen door yesterday. :j I haven't seen it yet, but OH went over and took some photos. I'm still recovering from the weekend of gardening! :o But hope to get over to see it this evening.

    @maggie - Looks great :)

I actually did something vaguely constructive yesterday and went to the house and cut the front hedge. It had got to the point where it was just about blocking the entrance through the gate. Hopefully it doesn't look quite so abandoned now. Also discovered that we have a wasps nest around the bottom of one section which I'll have to deal with later.

Also ordered some painting supplies to get started on the redecorating.
Insurance stuff is just abuot sorted out, just arranging to get our stuff back but like everything else its taking time to sort out.

Maggie - where did you get your kitchen from?

If anyone has experience of the central heating process at the moment please feel free to give me some advice in my thread here.

    Thanks :j

Local kitchen place Cabriolet. They did the utility room too. We did look at Howdens initially but were rather put off by the chap who came round and didn't really like their kitchens much anyway. Kitchen Man price matched most of the appliances for us, except the Elica fan thingy, which we bought in from the internet. Oh, and the induction hob as it's John Lewis' own brand.

OH has finally managed to cook something on the induction hob now, or rather re-heat something he made at home. We still have to tackle the oven which I suspect may be something of a trial as we've got a gas cooker at home... Think it's a fan oven too, so OH's previous experience of cooking electric won't be a great deal of help! :o

Pleased with how the kitchen has worked out, the fitter worked very hard at getting everything just so and completely level etc. Thinking back to the day it arrived it sure looks different now! :rotfl: Must begin to look at tables and chairs for the dining area now, thinking of having a photo roller blind at kitchen window too, but must choose a photo first! ;)

Got the place that makes the cupboard doors bookmarked somewhere, will try and find it later - OH has gone to fetch his Mum over for a picnic at the garden and I'm not even dressed yet! :o

Latecomer, glad to hear that things are finally moving on for you. Good luck with the wasps nest!

evening people, been painting today in the dinnng room, touch ad go with the coving to see if i had dried but all good today, missus helped so got it all sorted, chose a matt white paint, sealed the new plaster on the walls (these walls are being wallpapered anyway so just painted it white for now) and got the light in the coving aswell and happy with how it looks.

the kids have been round the grandparents last night, so we managed to get up to ikea to source a kitchen for the utility room and i think thats sorted now , havent ordered it but will do final measurements tomorrow before the grand prix is on :)
