Its something we need to consider to replace our horrible imprinted concrete drive at some point so may be another option!

Looks like asphalt can be classed as porous so probably not relevant on my above post then - worth checking though!
yeah the guy over the road to me when he had a block paved drive he had to apply for planning permission, will have to look in more detail on whether i need permission on not, knowing my luck i will, although its already tarmac'd from the day the house was built and the additonal bit i'm doing is a small grass area probably no bigger than 15ft x 10ft and there is a run of rain gully thin in the driveway anyway and it all goes into there instead of the road.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
That's a shame, wrote a huge post with lots of progress piccies, to then click submit and be told I'm too new to submit links D'OH!

just had a look at your pics, made lots of progress there, looks as if you have struck gold with your hubby and his mates, labours always the most expensive bit and theres that satisfaction of doing the job well yourself...
That reminds me that i need to add to my blog but I'm kinda of lacking on it now and i know 6 months down the line i'm going to kick myself for not.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

Claire, Looks pretty quick progress for a few months. Are you intending to complete it fully before moving in?
Mother-in-law and I spent the day cleaning carpets in nursery and rearranging all the furniture in there. Was one room we'd not used the carpet cleaner on so was a bit grubby. The furniture rearrangement was a bit of a puzzle to try fit everything in. Had tried to come up with a plan the day before in google sketchup but didn't work out..ended up with this:
Top wall, left to right: big futon, wardrobe
Right wall top to bottom: wardrobe, drawers, cot, changing table
Left wall behind door: bookshelf
Big problem was the futon and diagonal wall which somewhat limited the options.
Everything gradually coming together..though we have even less time now as it looks like baby is going to be induced at week 38 or 39..so two and half weeks or so! Yesterday had maternity appointment in morning and life after birth class for a couple of hours in the evening which didn't leave much time to do much else. Got one more 4 hour class to go which is a birth workshop at the weekend so that's another day i can't do house stuff but the most important class of them all. Rapidly running out of days now ..whether the house will be ready in time i have my doubts..but with even more focus to get it done i guess there's an outside chance!0 -
august 2006 ..must have a good chance of winning!:o
To think i was gonna finish by Christmas 2006 too:rotfl:
Hi Andrew!
Bought in Oct 09. Think in Nov 09 I did the first job (join the living and dining room). Then I kind of spent evenings and weekends slowly demolishing the place.
It took me a long time to figure out what I actually wanted to do...and then how to do it. With everything being new to me, and doing as much as I can myself it took a lot of researching, and asking some great people on here - saving me money and time! Initially I wanted an en suite with my master bedroom in the attic. This would be a real tight fit, whilst also making the largest first floor pretty much redundant. So I changed the problem and settle for the master bedroom on the first floor with en suite (hence why I have to go for a saniflo). It wasn't until Easter 10 when I got the ball rolling with plans, build regs, ripping down ceilings. Then summer 10 when I started the build, with first fixes and structural changes. Winter then stepped everything back, along with a nasty build inspector - oh and finances.
Equally I am beginning to feel slightly nervous about my job. Could be cuts ahead - last thing anyone wants with a house wrapped around their neck, uninhabitable! eeek.
You're beating me on the time, though let's not forget, you're closer to completion than me also!
p.s. liking the layout of ya room there. I'm very much into the functionality of design at the moment, not what just looks good. Which is probably why I am soooo stuck on what tiling combination & colour scheme to go for!! really need some good inspiration!"The future needs a big kiss"0
