Have you looked for a pedestal that goes back to wall - thats what we went for to ensure no pipes would be seen from the doorway/hall as the sink is side on to the door.
I didn't know that such a thing was available. Does it have a special name? I really am totally clueless about anything to do with plumbing!0 -
Not sure if it it has a specific name but the one we chose was:

We didn't deliberately choose it for that reason, we loved the shape of the basin.0 -

LOL LC, if OH gets to read the description he'll be wanting it!"Inspired by a sail in the wind," he's a sucker for anything boat or sailing! :rotfl: Nice looking basin, but I think the corners look a bit sharp for me (I fall over a lot, and the vertigo's got worse since I had the virus a couple of weeks ago). Will try and look for something with a similar plinth. Thanks!

Definitely got sharp corners for a basin - was just giving link to show what I meant0

Ok not a lot to report on the home front - OH had got BCO booked for a drains test when the guy who did the drains is back from his holidays.
Apart from that not much happening. Our visitors left me a present - a cold. Thats the second on since little LC was born I normally get max 2 a year!
But I have spent ages putting up a fairly good size update to the blog...... just in case anyone is interested0 -
latecomer- can I have link to blog pls.
Maggie- I saw your pic, too.0 -

Had to search the thread to find it though
We had a busy weekend. My folks were up and dad was giving me a hand to put the shed up. Getting the base ready took about 1.5 days, getting the shed up took about 4 hours
also reclaimed about 20 sq feet of land from our neighbour where the hedge had pushed the fence into our garden. Cut the hedge back (after checking with neighbour) and then moved wooden fence back to metal fence which was mostly still in place. Then cut out all the excess earth that had built up which allowed us to put the shed parallel and close to the fence.
Built a frame for the base using the scaffolding boards that were left behind by the first builders, dug down and levelled the earth before adding hardcore and slabs. The term "clyde build" may be appropriate
Had a minor mishap yesterday when dad dropped a slap without warning and caught the pad of middle finger. Presumed it was just a graze but after a few minutes of it not getting any less painful I took glove to find it had torn the skin about 60% of the way round the pad. Off to seek medical advice (from OH) and had to stop while it was cleaned up. Also got forced to lie down as I looked pretty bad and felt nauseous, I'm not squeemish so thought it was probably due to the pain. Turned out to be not that bad as initially ssuoected, I thought it had cut the pad into a flap but thankfully just a bad split and a bit of a crush. Still makes typing a pain - literally
Anyway got back to it and got shed finished just as it got dark and put the hasp and padlock on using a torch. Needed to paint it with wood treatmend but didn't have or energy last night. Folks were leaving this morning but apparently dad gave it a quick coat before they went
Got to say I'm quite impressed with the shed given it was £200 delivered. Ok we put some extra screws in and I might put in a little extra support but its pretty solid - certainly a lot better than what B&Q sold. Will take a couple of pics next time I'm home in daylight.0 -
evening everyone got alot of catching up on whats been going on, dare i say the word but ive been busy sourching christas presents for the kids on other boards!!!
out of interest can anyone reccomend a place online to buy wooden venetian blinds..... bought some off ebay a year ago but i cant find the seller now....Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
Arrghhh dont mention the C word
How did you get on with the electrics problem?
Our shed is still standing despite the gales so I'm quite happy - one of my friends built a new shed a couple of months ago and lost the roof on saturday. Mind you I've seem his previous efforts at DIY and least said the better
Finger on the mend - feels like the pad area that got crushed will come off but will need to wait and see. Can now type again at least
Unfortunately little LC has got my cold and has been snuffling for the last 36 hours and hence isn't sleeping well. OH is shattered as she's not sleeping either.0 -
Just an update on my bungalow project.
We've decided to remove the chimney and both the chimney breasts in the bedrooms to create more space and allow us to build into the loft possibly next year.
We've also decided to remove the wall between the dining room and bedroom making it into a big open plan diner/lounge area, moving the bedroom to the front of the property.
I've been getting quoted in for the windows and rear door, as soon as I have the last quote in hopefully this week I can go ahead and order them.
The electricians are coming on Friday so I should know then whether the whole place needs rewiring or not - hopefully it doesn't! Same goes for the plumbing, although it will definitely need a new boiler.
The most exciting bit of news is that we've had two architects around to look at the property about possibly extending into the loft next year and they both think we could convert over the flat roofed garage and extend the roof, converting it from a single story 2 bed bungalow to a big 4 bed chalet bungalow. Most of the properties in the road have already done this so it definitely makes sense and it should add a huge amount of value to the property. I just hope that we can get the funds to do it!0
