Well done everyone who is making progress - stolt in particular!

We have actually been away for the long weekend and feel much better for it. Still no closer to moving on with the house though. Got some legal advice yesterday but cant say we are any the wiser for it (although will be lighter in the pocket!!)

Got another builder coming round today to have a look and hopefully quote. The one guy we've been recommended cant take it on at the moment. He has said he will recommend someone else local to him but we've not got any details yet (and he's on holiday for the week).

How a list of services on a small builder's website in Toronto is going to help anyone here?

Love those gabions around the pond stolt, really like the way they look, so much so I'm trying to find reasons to have them in my garden plan, lol!
    I have a blog too...

yeah i think they make a nice addition, havent got to have loads, i built my friend a bench out of them with the seat as a nice large bit of driftwood he had found while out walking his dog, so much so he made three himself and sold them on ebay!!!!

Here i'm still plodding on with concrete breaking. Plans have changed though and going for a 9'x9' shed rather than 9'x6' so i've got even more concrete to break out!

Saturday we went upto OH's grandad for the day and visited Nan's grave to put some fresh flowers down though the one's from funeral still quite good condition considering. I came back with a mattock like this only 7lb.. newish handle but the head must be at least 100 years old as it was nan's father's who was a labourer. It's speeded up my rubble removal quite a bit.
Sunday i spent the whole day breaking concrete and breaking it up into smaller gravel sized chunks. Also broke up the old toilet which was in the way. Monday i was knackered but we took a couple of car loads of rubble to the tip and i also cut the grass for the first time this year. Today i spent another day breaking concrete. At a guess i think i've covered at least 8 feet by 9 feet though i need to clear about 10x10 in total. If it was just going straight in a skip i'd have been finished long ago! Forgot to take photos of progress unfortunately. There's probably a few more days left of bashing though i don't think i can take much more to be honest!

I know how you feel, keep going with it, I felt quite disheartend with the old garden last week when i was on my own and it seemed never ending... I was glad to get back to my desk today, although would be my luck this time last week its was poruing down with rain.:(

Had a nice surprise this morning when i went to work, spent yesterday afternoon pressure washing the driveway clean of sand and sub base and cement. I'd parked both cars on the front lawn to keep them out of the way of the numerous lorries that have been arriving and skips, but i had waterlogged the lawn from the power washing. The missus family car was park in front of my car and she only does short journeys in it each day. The car hadnt been driven all week because the kids were off and the battery was flat!! trying to push this bloody big car out through water logged grass was a nightmare, so on my first day back i was late!!!!!!!

OH finished laying the shed base after work this evening (in the rain!). But didn't take camera, so no pictures yet. I think we might put the chairs on it for now until the shed arrives.

He has drawn up kitchen plans, so guess we're about to commence battle over that...

I had a day in bed after 5 days on the trot of gardening and raking moss from the lawn. It was becoming very noticeable that I had to spend more time sitting and less time doing by Monday afternoon. :o Had stuff planned that had to just abandon. :(

Nevermind, it's a Counselling day tomorrow (change of day this week and next week), so will be taking it easy again, and hopefully by Thursday will be champing at the bit again to get back to the raking moss out of lawn. :rotfl:

We had another builder out last night and then one of the others back this morning with a plumber. Architect will be out tonight so hopefully we can get him to put something in writing.

And for a nice change some good news - we were at the hospital this morning for the 20 week scan and everything is fine (with the usual disclaimers of course!). They managed not to give away the girl/boy surprise which was great. I also felt baby move for the first time over the weekend which was quite a special moment :)

Ooh, exciting about the baby :j. Fingers crossed things start to work out the builder and architect.
