Lol.
I thought it was something to do with the shower doors too but I just can't quite 'see' it.
Bar of chocolate for the winner. I'll describe it to you when I eat it. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally ordered our underfloor heating, insulation and mirror demister pad.
Got some good bargains
Lisa - was it you who gave us the recommendation of [FONT="]Underfloor Warehouse? They were really helpful and gave us a great quote (one of the cheapest). The only problem was that they didn't have the insulation we needed so went with theunderfloorheatingstore.com. They have an eBay shop which is really cheap but again didn't have the correct insulation boards so I ordered through the website. We got a cool free uprgade to a remote control UFH system!
I did get a bit of a bargain with the mirror de-mister pad on eBay. For the size we wanted they are about £40. I found one on eBay for £22 but it said 'Best Offer' so I offered £20 and it got acceptedFrom these guys http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/kudos-trading/
Tiling man comes round this evening for a quote. Praying he can tile bathroom in next few weeks. So excited

I think one thing I can conclude with this house renovation is I am bad at making descisions and I worry that we're dealing with cowboys. I much prefer to have a reccomendation for things and when we have to go with someone out of the yellow pages it worries me a lot. Anyone else? It worries me more when I don't fully understand what I'm asking for!
I have had it with the skip hire, gutters and now the concrete! Are all concretes the same for footings?? How do I know if the company will mix it correctly?? Anyone know what they are talking about with concrete?? help!

oh I hate that also JT. Sometimes OH leaves decisions up to me (very nice of him) but I get worried I'll pick the wrong thing. It took me days to work out that underfloor heating.
Luckily we haven't actually paid anyone to do any work yet apart from the damp people who mortgage company recommended.
We're just about to book tiling guy under my recommendation (OH hasn't even met him) ooooh hope it's ok.
I'm sorry I don't know anything about concrete.
Could you ask these people for references/recommendations? If they'er good they shouldn't mind.0 -

You are my twin. I have no idea why I am so bad at making decisions now, I never used to be like this.I think I've run every single part of my bathroom refurb past everyone on this board. I've agonised over everything, to the point of not sleeping properly for worrying about it all.
Tbh, I've started so many threads and asked so many questions that I'm surprised people aren't just ignoring me through boredom now.
I have bucketfuls of sympathy for you.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I might add that 3 months on I still haven't bought the bathroom tiles over dithering who to but them from!!0

Is it terrible that I end up going by the sound of their voices if unsure? One bloke sounded like a right cheeky chappy and the other sounded really down to earth and honest - I shouldn't judge by the sound of the voice but it is quite hard not to! I am also suprised people aren't bored with me too aliasjo (in fact they probably are!)!!
The other problem is I am the organiser of everything, do all the ringing, searching for best prices, worrying about quality whereas Mr JT would just ring the first company he saw at whatever price. There is a difference of £122 between 2 quotes, but the cheaper one can't come at the time Mr JT wants them there so thinks its fine to just go for the more expensive one rather than waiting 4 days! arfgh! also what if we do go for the cheaper one and they are no good? what if they don't have the mix right?
What I liked about the cheaper one is they mix it when you are onsite, and luckily our builder will be there then, so he can oversee it (he is a relative).
Sometimes I wish I didn't care about price or quality and just went with the 1st place!!

AAARGH why are bathrooms so stressful?! We've pretty much done everything now and it's just the tiling to go. My Dad was going to do it but we thought we'd get a few quotes from tilers first.
This guy came round months ago and was really helpful and seemed fair on price. Got him back this morning and there seems to be loads of problems GRRRR
The walls aren't perfectly straight which isn't necessarily a problem but combined with the plasterboard they might not be strong enough to hold up the travertine tiles. He's just warning us but do we risk the tiles falling off or go for something different? Also if we use travertine we're looking at over £1,000 to tile instead of maybe something like £800.
The problem is I haven't seen tiles which can be used on floor and wall which are ceramic. Has anyone come across these?
Really don't know what to do. Whether to just go with the travertine, pay the money and take a risk. Get my Dad to do it? or pick a different tile.0
