Thanks TM. I've already got the manufacturer's website as http://www.aquastep.be/ - they have a form to ask for a dealer list so might try that. So far i've just been googling and factory direct was one of those i found via google i think. I'll probably go for the clearance stuff at flooring uk here - bit of a limited range but we like sutter oak so may go with that - it's labelled as bankrupt stock when you go here so i'm not sure who is the one whose bankrupt!

That site looks fine, and I like the sutter oak. Are you going to send for a sample?
  • Hi all,
Hope everyone had a good weekend?

We actually got something done in the bathroom - who hoo! We got the floor back down which means you can't see someone going to the loo downstairs through the upstairs ceiling .... bonus!

Next on the list is the underfloor heating - does anyone have this in their bathroom? We're not going to have it everywhere just the 'wet' area. I think we need to get some insulation between that and the wooden floor otherwise it'll just heat up that, not the tiles.

I had a good tidy up and although it looks pretty much the same everywhere I feel better about it.

We had lots of ppl round yesterday for a BBQ which was nice :) We love our massive stone bbq - cooks the food really well. It's a bit much doing it by yourself so I had my trusty girly friends to help :) The lads all sat and drunk cider in the front garden. Oh, what a nice picture!!

Sorry Jimbugalee, can't help with underfloor heating, we decided against it in the bathroom. Someone else has it though, can't remember who now, and they laid it themselves so you should get an answer soon.

Oh no, no, no - they've got that all wrong. The rule is that BBQs are men's domain, they HAVE to do the cooking, it makes them appear "new man-ish" and boosts their ego tremendously when they brag about what they cooked on the barbie last weekend. You will have to sit Mr Jimbugalee down and have a very serious talk with him - he's losing his credibility by the minute by not cooking on the barbie :D .

    Hiya,

Im afraid no progress from me! Spent Saturday driving 400 miles in a truck to pick up some furniture and Sunday having a good clear out of all my stuff before I start to pack! Im completly worn out, come back to work for a rest! I did really enjoy driving a massive truck, I got much more respect then when Im driving my Yaris ha ha

jimbugalee - Ive got underfloor heating in my bathroom! It so lovely under your feet! We got it from here: http://www.ufwarehouse.co.uk/products/ufh_elecSimpleHeat.aspx

If I remember rightly it was about £100 to do a 1.8 x 1.8 bathroom (excluding under the bath and toilet!).

We put plywood down then the underfloor heating cable then tiles onto the top of it! It was really easy to do!

ooo just noticed Ive got my 2nd star :-)

HAHAHA!! Us girls always laugh about that. My boyfriend was finishing off the bits he was doing in the bathroom so I enlisted another guy to light the BBQ. He did and then about 2 hours later came back to check on it finding we had already cooked most of the stuff!!!
My favourite thing is when you get the guys who can't cook in the kitchen but because they are a bloke they automatically have the knowledge to cook on the BBQ .... I think not.

Sorry guys but you have to agree?! Also some guys are genius on the BBQ so can't take that away from them :)

Lisa - wow that sounds like a tiring weekend ZZzzzzzz I often go back to work for a rest!

Thanks for the link on the heating - I'll have a look. We've got ply down now but thought we would have to put some insulation down also? Our plan was ply, flexible adhesive, insulation, underfloor heating, more flex adhesive then tiles. Doesn't look like you need the insulation on that site. I've forwarded it to boyfriend :)
I think we probably need about 2m square but going to measure up tonight. Did you get a themostat thing with yours ? These look expensive!! Hope it doesn't use too much electricity.
  • Thanks Andrew. I'll take a look at that website also. We decided the heating was a good idea as it will help dry up the wet area if there's any areas we find the water is running into. I don't really want to walk into a puddle of water every morning after OH has been in bathroom! Luckily you don't have to walk through the 'wet' area to get to loo and sink :)

Spent yesterday afternoon on the toilet cabinet building again.

I just read that as "Spent yesterday afternoon on the toilet, cabinet building again", wondering how on earth you managed it :rotfl: .

Note to self: stop flitting from MSE to looking for curtain tracks and concentrate on one or the other! I really want the curtains up by the end of the week and if I'm quick and order some track today it might come before the weekend. OH's in for transfusions Tues/Wed and Fri/Sat so that will give him a boost and he should be raring to go on Sunday :D .

    Hiya,

The thermostat was included in the £100 so thats all it should cost you too! They also have a really good technical help team based in the UK if you get stuck. We bought it for the bathroom and downstairs and they have been very helpful the few times we have called them!

If they price it for a lot more say I reccommended them (Lisa Killick) and thats the price I paid! I managed to get the price down a little bit just by asking!

Yeah the instructions just said to put ply down then this adhesive to help stick the wires down then your tiles adhesive then the tiles.

You will need to get an electrician in to connect it to the mains but you can do the rest yourself!
