First-time house renovation
Comments

Andy - Glad to hear you finally got the door sorted out.
TM - hope you get the wardrobes sorted soon
Been very busy this week with the new job. Think I'm going to be spending a lot of time there in the near future. Not a huge amount of progress on the house at the weekend but we got the new toilet in and connected but it took a full day. Also got the shower screen up and sealed so the shower is now ready for use. Got to put a little grout round the decorative chrome rings which cover the pipe connections but its all sealed in behind so its not going to stop me using is this morning :j0 -
Hi everyone
have kept away for a week or so, but :j we've exchanged today, completion on Monday then will be a fully fledged first time renovator - and blogger come to that!!!!
Hope you don't get fed up of all the questions I'm bound to be asking over the next few months, our DIY skills are pretty limited.
Sorted with the insurance, rang Barclays, who we have our contents insurance with, and have been able to take out a separate buildings insurance policy with them aswell, for a very reasonable amount, so v happy with that.
Once I've got the blog set up and the 1st pics added, will let you know!!

Good news Kimmi :T .
Ask away with the questions. I think that between us we should be able to answer most of them, or point you in the right direction, and hopefully help you avoid any costly mistakes.
Looking forward to your blog and seeing what your house is like and what your plans are.0 -
Hi KIMMI and welcome! congrats on exchanging!!
The thread is very useful, as you can avoid costly mistakes by asking first
Well we have just started digging footings for the extension. My OH is working so hard. The skip was delivered and we have it for 5 days (is that normal?? you usually cant get them to take it away!), I have beautifully toned arms now haha! Anyone who is getting a skip in the future for soil, make sure you get one with a fold down side so you can just tip the wheel barrow in. It is very very annoying having to dig it out of the barrow into the skip - we did not think about it
It is all rather exciting though!!

Congratulations Kimmi
I hope it's a bungalow, too many pesky house owners in here
We have someone coming to quote on moving the electric meter, totally not MSE but it really really annoys me having it in the kitchen. Price could mean it stays there tho - initial guesstimate is 400-800 just to move it so would have to add sparkys bill onto that etc0 -

I thought it was the other way round! :rotfl:
Anyway, you'll be happy to know that Kimmi has joined the one level living set. We ought to have a poll, I bet it's 2:1 bungalow:house.0 -

Hello everyone, did you all have a productive weekend? My lovely OH spent the weekend and all of last week digging the foundations for our home. A 5ton skip is far too small, looks like we may need another
boo! They are so expensive.
Has anyone had cavity wall insulation, is it worth it? Mr Jamtart thinks it is an additional, unnecessary expense, but I am not so sure...
