Oooh everyone I'm so pleased with my latest purchase. Check this out:

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.901-3210.aspx

Ty to MSE for pointing me in the direction of the sale! Garden furniture isn't top of our priorities but I couldn't resist at that price. I also ordered a nice stone parasol for £4.80 and some seat pads for the same. It does make the total just over £50 with delivery (eeeek) but I still thought that was good so just went for it!

We bought a table and chairs for outside last month too - got to have some rest from all the DIY and enjoy the garden ;) Ours was almost MSE - 2nd hand Wessex Teak (read loads of horror stories about them on here :o seems a great set tho and maybe they used to be good !!) one but not as much of a bargain as yours - enjoy :D

get a combi boiler if your budget can cover it, it will save messing in the long term :) Can you not sell the old one? Ours was on its last legs, but we decided to do all of it now before we decorated and decided later to do it. Didn't really need new skirting boards but decided to do them now before I changed my mind in a few years :)

Indeed that is the thought at the back of our minds !

Speaking of skirting - ours is an odd one, Ovolo and not seen it in any of the 'sheds' - need to check timber yards i guess !!

And, speaking of scrap metal - how about old radiators & old kitchen sink, are they worth anything does anyone know ?

I don't think the rads are worth very much. We have about 5 big ones which we are going to weigh in when we scrap a car but not expecting nearly as much as the copper.

Not sure on old rads. The rag-and-bone man was happy to take our old rusty bathroom one though so i guess there must be a few pennies of value in them.

That patio set looks a very good deal..no wonder its out of stock now all the MSErs blitzed it into submission! We have been considering a new set ourselves. The table we've got was someone's cast-off ...metal frame with glass top and the bottom lip of the frame has rusted through in places now. I've actually been toying with the idea of attempting to make my own...though i'm not convinced how good it would look.

Updated my blog with a lack of progress report ...as you'll see i discovered our new toilet seat had a crack in it yesterday so getting a replacement under warranty. Still not got the door sorted so i'll have to chase that on monday yet again .

I got that too :T Absolute bargain! I had it in my shopping basket about a week ago and it sold out before I checked out but noticed they had come back in stock and bagged myself one! Also got the parasol, seat covers and parasol base! Also by doubling up my clubcard vouchers it cost me nothing yey! That was some serious money saving!

If anyone still wants one you can get them to email you when it comes back into stock, which I think it will!

Nothing to report on the house but got a busy weekend ahead. Meeting a joiner tomorrow morning to give us a quote for fitting the kitchen then getting the final few floorboards down under the stairs then off to pick up the oak flooring. I'm very excited about this cos it will make such a difference when its down!

Sunday will be a bit of a write off because we're going to gardeners world live, cant wait!

    bye for now

i love all the garden furniture but we really have no idea what we will be doing yet in our garden until the extensionis on at least.

Thanks for the link Canukle. We took our own pipes out and left the copper piping in the kitchen to weigh in. The plumber came, replaced the pipes and took all the copper piping away without asking. I was really really annoyed with him, as it is basically theft.

Oh no I didn't buy a base!!! Can you get them from anywhere? Don't really want to pay another delivery charge. What a numpty!! Picked up the parasol at the weekend and it's nice :) It's already got dirty tho .... grr @ cream!

    House update....
We have the floorboards down!!!!! hurrah!!! It's so weird just to go upstairs and ... walk around :)

I think the next two weeks are going to be super stressful as it's count down to move in. We have the following to do:

Bathroom - still pretty much unstarted so OH is going to temporarily plumb in the old bathroom downstairs so we don't have to rush the new one. I think it'll take 1-2 months.

Our bedroom - This one I am determined to get done before we move in. Walls stripped and I've started rubbing down the skirting boards, door frame etc. Ty B&D mouse :) If I can get those painted and the ceiling before the weekend my Dad can come and wallpaper at the weekend. We are lucky that I only moved into my flat 6 months ago so I have brand new bedroom furniture. Once the room has wallpaper it'll look like new!! My mum has kindly offered to buy us a new carpet but I think we have to wait until upstairs is finished otherwise it's going to get ruined.

Kitchen - although we are leaving the kitchen exactly as is. AAARGH, will I survive?! We do need to get appliances. We already had a dishwasher so popped that in last night and works brilliantly. Need to test the washing machine. We decided the cooker we had was just too disgusting so put a post up on Freecycle for one. Fingers crossed!

Lounge/office - The lounge is a no go area atm which I don't really mind. I'll just relax in the bedroom :) But I need a corner of it for my office (work from home)

Moving stuff - We have this weekend and the Saturday of next to move all of my stuff from flat to house (it's never going to fit!!) I have a brand new sofa I'm going to need to store. It's too nice to put in the house. Trying to do everything else bit by bit but I think it's going to be tough.

    Stressful 2 weeks!!!

Seriously considering getting some garden furniture from Tesco..if not the furniture at least a parasol or gazebo. Helped put one of the £11 white Tesco value gazebos up yesterday at OHs parents - they are a bit flimsy so i don't think i'd leave it up and don't come with sides but we found other sides from a broken gazebo did fit. Instructions were a bit strange - the poles are numbered but the diagrams gave letters so then you have to go back to the parts list to find which letter corresponds to which number! For the pretty much throwaway price i guess you can't complain though.

Lisa, an old friend of mine (found him on facebook last week!) was working on GW when you went..unfortunately by the time i found out where he was going to be it was too late to send you in his direction.

Oooo where abouts was he working? It was really good but not as good as Harrogate. It was a lovely day for it though but a bit warm in the floral marquee outside! I wanted to hang around for the plant sale at half 4 but we had finished looking round by half 2 and wanted to get home. Its a 2 hour drive from us to Birmingham and 4 sets of 50 mile an hour road works

jimbugalee - I bought my base instore for £12.50 half price same as online so you might be able to go pick one up. There were loads in my local Tesco. I've got the parasol and seat covers and they are nice considering how cheap they are. I got cream too so will probably get it filthy ha ha
Good luck with the move, I'm sure you'll get done all you need too! Its definitely great motivation to get cracked on!

We had a really good day on Saturday. Up at 8 and to Wickes to pick up a joist. Then met a kitchen fitter to give us a quote, £600 and will take 2 days, does that sound reasonable? Theres 8 base units, 2 floor to ceiling units and 2 wall units. Got another 2 quotes to come yet.

Then got the understairs finished. We now have floorboards too! Its brilliant, no more falling into a big hole! It makes it look so much bigger. We were at the house till half 9 and was totally shattered!

This week we are planning on getting the kitchen decorated and all the rubbish cleared away from downstairs ready for the kitchen coming t-minus 8 days!

Hope you all had good weekends!
