There is a socket available on a 4x4 website that i've seen, but other places stock it also.

It has loads of pins inside that, when placed over the head of the nut will fit into the shape of the lock and help you remove it. Think it costs around a tenner.

Also as already said you should have a code in the box that the wheel nuts were supplied in.

They may of been on the car when you picked it up but the dealer would of fitted these. I work for Vauxhall in E Port and the locking wheelnuts are not supplied from the factory for this reason. My locking wheel nuts came in a small black plastic box. Look in the boot by the spare wheel for it or in the glovebox. Take the code to your Vauxhall dealer who can then source you a new key.

I've removed locking wheel nuts without a key a few times in the past few years.
A lump hammer and cold chisel is usually enough, though I had to blowtorch some of them first. So don't pay £230!

Edit: I used the hammer and chisel to rotate the bolt a bit , then hammered an old undersize socket over the lot. An air ratchet gun and an old socket will often work too.

  • Hi

Thanks to above member for mentioning Dynomec. I have same problem with Vauxhall Omega. No-one wanted to touch it not even Vauxhall, Formula 1, KwikFit etc. I ran around in circles for weeks. However the guys at Dynomec were very helpful. It costs about 130 quid to get a kit to do it.. It has 3 parts - and one of those is a softish metal thing you ram into the flowery-shaped locked nut. It then wedges itself in and you can then unlock the nut. You can then use the same pice of metal to do the other nuts. It will also work on one more car and then you have to buy a niew metal piece costing fiver. Guys at Dynomec gave me a few numbers of local garages that have the toolk,it, but best of all if you're living close to Castleford WF10 3EW, you can take your car there and they will undo four nuts for 20 quid. Prices might vary so be adised in advance. Their phone number is 01977 520666. I will try to take my car there and if any problems will post some more info here. Good luck. By the way, make sure you get a new set of replacement locking nuts with a key before you go there ;) .

Visiting the man tomorrow to get a bolt out of a 306 Meridian alloy.

most reputable tyre places will have a range of keys, if not £230 is steep to have someone weld one on, buy yourself a new set ready from ebay/motor factor place ready to replace them with

    Because:

    1. we are well into the christmas holidays
    2. anyone can create a new account on here at any time (even if they already have 1 or more)
    3. this site isn't moderated

    or possibly in this case
    4. Trade is slow at present.

Any reputable place could remove them.

Dealers trying to charge you are just having a laugh.

Locking wheel nuts deter the opportunist, they are easy to remove.

The place that chiseled em off may have now actually made them difficult to remove...eeejits.
and don't care it's months old.... Eeejits!
  • would cost about £45-60 to remove a set of nuts at my garage.

I do not have locking nuts on my car, if they want the wheels they will take them but rather they did not damage the hubs etc..........hence no lockers.
Google gives you answers use it.........
