help advice on what u think ??

ok sold a pushchair on 15th sep via best offer
buyer sends me an message saying

hi thanks for accepting my offer if i pay tomorow will you be able to send it so i get it before saturday as im going on holiday

so received payment next day booked up courier for 17th sep 48hr

courier collected and delivered before the sat as requested

i think its all fine until today receive a message

"Hi i got back of my holiday yesterday. I recived the pram day before i went and i lefted it wrapped till i got back as trying to sort out 3 kids for holiday it was manic. The hood on the pram keeps coming away from the pram frame. If you look at the pram from the front it is the right hand side. Also the hood is very dirty and there is a big mark on the seat unit on right side near where the hood fits. The description said the frame had marks which is expected of a used pram but it didn't say there was alot of other marks on it. Also the 5-point harness is frayed on one side. This 2 wasn't mentioned. Thanks for taking the time to read my email it's much appricated"

so off to my listing where i quote

there are a very few faint marks to the frame as to be expected from a used pushchair but nothing major also there are a few marks to the fabric again nothing nasty or that wont probably come out in the wash

i know the huge marks to the side of the seat were not present when listed or checked before packaging for the courier and i know that there was no fraying to the harness i have asked them to send me some pics and they also show big deep scratch/gouge marks to the side of the plastic arm rest on the pushchair that was not present either nor did the buyer say anything about this to me:confused::confused:

this is the second time within a month that i have had this happen to me paypal dont want to know untill a dispute is opened and ebay cant help either

what can i do and how do i stop this or protect myself for this happening in the future as it is starting to get old now as i am honest in my listing to avoid this happening but on both occasions i have evedince that the pushcair has apparently been used

thanks

If you took pictures prior to sending it off then thats good evidence. In future maybe advertise as cash on collection only, I have stopped selling on ebay now as Paypal always assume the buyer is right.

If you think your in the right then let her raise her dispute and try and win it, although its unlikely. At least paypal will make her return the pram to you at her own cost.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

thanks have just been discussing cash on collection only
yes ur right paypal says that it offers sellers as well as buyers protection but i have never heard of a seller winning paypal is just letting some buyers rip sellers off

before you all go mad there are genuine cases where buyers get stiched up i myslef was with a mobile phone and got my money back by dispute but there are so many people out there who abuse the system

and she dose not have to send it back at her own cost dose she ?
i always thought that they paid to send it back but got all there money including the postage back

    thanks for advice
  • At the end of the day they'll have to pay for it to be sent back regardless and if they don't know anything about couriers they could well find them selves having to pay £20+, which may well put them off.

i hope so thing is the pushcahir/pramette is mainly cream with red sots on it
and the picture i used to list is showing the same side that they have sent me a picture of but theres has a big black mark which looks like a x on it

i said that it would not have happened in transit as was package correctly to which she has replied no it could not have happened in transit as the packaging was all intact when i received it

i have now sent her a message saying that if i spent nearly £200 on a pushchair that i signed for 2 days before i was due to go away i would have found a spare few mins to open and check it

i know what i am like when i receive a package i want to open it an dcheck it and see what it is. or am i the only one who dose this???

she also said that the reason she wanted it delivered before she went away is so that she would not miss it being delivered whilst she was on holiday to which my reply was why did you not ask me to keep hold of it and post if when you came off holiday if you did not need it to take on holiday:confused:
  • Are you sure she didn't buy it just to take on her hols and is now trying it on?

Just one point on ebay you cannot specify cash on collection, you can't even say you prefer it. all you can do is offer it as an option. However a buyer can still collect and pay paypal, which is why collection items are unsuitable for ebay.

    Stop using ebay.

Ebay buyers now know that they hold all the cards.

Obviously if you'd been paid by a more safe payment method you could tell the buyer to go away, but as it was paypal, you have few options.

Sounds like she took it with her on holiday, maybe it went on the plane and stored with the luggage. What is her rating like?
Ebay is great as long as all parties are honest.
  • Being neutral to all this (and probably going to get stated for this).
Is this not a classic case of the inherent problems with ebay and paypal?
Both are faceless organisations and neither have seen or had possession of this item or any others that are listed.
The buyer and seller become involved in a dispute, in the interests of “Fairness” if you can call it that, who do they side with? (We all know who the will side with)
So they suggest and impartial solution, they get buyer to return the product and get a refund. If all is genuine then both should be happy. The buyer has their money back and the seller is in the same position they were before the sale. (I appreciate both will be out of pocket for postage)
This is where it all becomes open to abuse, they buyer most probably has used the pram on holiday but how does the seller prove this? And how do paypal make an impartial decision based on the limited information they actually request is provided and bother to read.

This is not a go at the OP, just an observation, it maybe should have gone in it’s own thread and for that I apologise.
