I have exactly the same setup as you 1 teenager, out all day etc etc
    2 Pc's, PS3 constantly on.......
I use the power card and have worked out at about £1.50 per day, so approx £45 per month
Trying now to use as little as possible between 4 and 7 PM

Hi, CAPSLOCKON If you are on Powershift then the most expensive time during the summer months is between 5 and 8 pm.

It will go back to 4 and 7pm when the clocks change at the end of this month.

So when the clocks change on Octber 26th. The time will be 4pm to 7 pm as the most expensive.
I am getting my keypad meter in on Monday (Powershift tarriff )and i am hoping my usage will go down as £100 per month is crazy. i have been trying to turn off lights etc and not leave the immersion heater on etc......
We have Oil heating so thats not even for any heat. Dont have a tumble dryer.
it seems to be xbox , tv,s laptops ,pc and i hyave been known to use the cooker the odd time.

  • We bought a special switch for the immersion heater as the kids were always switching it on and forgetting about it. You can press it once for 15 mins, twice for half an hour and 3 times for an hours. It goes off automatically after the designated time so no more worries about it being left running. I think you get them in B&Q or electrical suppliers. It cost about £25 but I'm sure we've more than recouped that since we installed it.

I installed one of these a couple of years ago (Don't attempt yourself unless competant, 30 amps will kill you stone dead!!).
It's brilliant and saved us an absolute fortune. We all used to forget to turn the immersion off and would often use up a week's electric in a day.

Hello doelani, hey thats a silly question, of course I have been keeping a check. :p

Yestersay £1.99, Thurs £ 2.68 ,Weds £3.10. Last Sunday was the best so far ....only £1.05

My weekly usage has dropped by about £2.90 from last week.

Just checked that the new rate has kicked in and it has......just not sure exactly when though. Over all i'm happy with everything so far and i'll stick with Powershift.

I'm getting used to it now and load my washing machine and dryer up before I go to bed and have them on a timer to come on at 6.30. I put the immersion on the 1 hour timer as soon as I get up(7.00 am) and thats enough hot water for the rest of the day.

OH and I get showered in the morning and the kids after 8pm at night.
