  • Hi all especially sophiesmum, thanks for starting the thread.
    I feel a bit down today, it feels quite a lonely journey ( see post on OS about Grocery Challenge spectacular failure). I'm scrimping, saving, making do and OH, whilst being on board in principle, just slips back into I want, I need, I deserve mode. I feel like a duck frantically paddling to make amends for overspending by him and by those unexpected expenses (eg brand new football kit dads in DSs team have decided is essential). I do try and keep a bit of contingency but just doesn't seem to stretch far enough.
    Sorry to moan
    Today I will
    • do all usual checking
    • line dry
    • bread in bm
    • yoghurt
    • Come back when I feel more cheerful!
    Belle

    :kisses3: Try not to feel like you have failed YB, sometimes you feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall when you are the only one putting the effort in, just imagine though what situation you would be in if neither of you were taking it seriously.OH is lucky to have you working away in the:A background

    Early afternoon everyone!

    Piquant, your money story made me laugh, and despite how dirty it is, its still money!!

    Yorkshire belle, i know it can be disheartening when the OH don't get it. I am sit here with the heating on because other half is feeling cold even though i think its far too hot to have the heating on!! Your doing a great job and as they say, if you don't succeed try try again. Also, you haven't failed, its just a bit of delayed success!! Have a good moan, especially as we all love to do so! then get back on that bandwagon again.

    Hoping for a busy day today, need one, as i didn't get quite as much done as i had hoped yesterday, came down with one of my bad heads, think it was an after effect of my treatment!

    So today i have/will do:
    -I have done two loads of washing and have got them outside drying in the sun
    -I have sorted out my big cupboard, which contains all my folders past and present, so that i can be more organised and saves me having to buy a new cupboard
    -Found lots of important things for my new job, as a result of going through the cupboard, means i don't have to search for this stuff as much and as a result have more time to focus on business and courses which are important for my future
    -I have bought a camera for work from tesco direct and used a code, thus saving me money on petrol by not having to go get it, plus i get double clubcard points!!
    -I have done ear candling home work
    -I have done homework for nvq course
    -I have sorted out everything for nvq course for tomorrow
    -I have wrote up my mystery shopping report
    -I have sorted through my messy handbag and found out receipts for my business so that i can claim my expenses when i have to do my taxes
    -I have received an email from my friend who has confirmed times for massage so i definitely have a client to massage!!

    -I will work through emails as i have tons of them

    -I will sort out placement for counselling now that the other one fell through, so will try and email places that i have received details about
    -I will do some of the surveys i have received
    -I will pay friend for our cheap trip to Edingburgh
    -I will continue submitting site to search engines etc - submitted to seven directories today
    -I will make notes for counselling assignment
    -I will create an essay plan

    -I will move money around
    -I will tidy my bedroom, this is good as it means i don't just shove the clothes on my bedroom floor, into the wash basket
    -Will sort out some financial papers that i have lying around
    -I will sort out finances to see what my partner owes me
    -I will sort out what work i have still left to do, with regards to my courses and see where i am with my homework
    -I will make meals from storecupboard
    -I will tidy out my car, need to find a metal bit for my sat nav, as it kind of fell apart yesterday!! - Not found the metal bit though so my partner is not going to be happy!!
    -I will check my matched bets
    -I'll pay my big credit card bill off - £300 paid off, will pay the other £400 next month.
    -Sort out dry clothes and put any away that i can get away with not ironing
    -Do some lovely boring household jobs
    -Work on ideas for business
    -Start writing my assignment
    -Sort out plans for next week
    -Update challenges
    -Check in to do folder, to see what i need to or should have done!!

    Crazy busy day so best get cracking. Have a great Sunday everyone.

  • Afternoon all.

    As mentioned elsewhere, I haven't been around for a bit with being busy, busy, busy. It isn't all work thank goodness, but play has meant a few long trips to watch the football this month. I'm trying to be good, but if you don't want to spend money - don't be a football fan!

    Anyway, today:

    * Initiated the opening of a Kaupthing Edge savings account to move my paltry contingency ING Savings in to. It might not be much, but it might as well be earning more interest than it currently is.
    * Joined the October NSD challenge. As you can see from my sig, September was a success so I'm keen to carry on (not many days until Christmas - eek!)
    * Having storecupboard meals.
    * Going to Meadowhell (the shopping centre) but only going to pay £5 of change into the coin machine at HSBC and make my partner do the same with his change. Going to look in Poundland for a sealed pot to join in next year's challenge too :)
    * Do a short wash on 30 degrees and get it hung outside. This means that anyone in Sheffield and the surrounding area should know that it's guaranteed to rain again as soon as my wash is finished :D
    * Tidy and do my dinner for work tomorrow. Seeing as I'm in the office on my own, I can have smelly egg sandwiches without my colleague looking at me funny :D

    Hope everyone is well and sending positive vibes out to anyone who's a little under the weather today.
  • Hi
    today have sorted out all the free stuff from craft mags, that i USED to buy, and made 4 birthday cards up to now. Have plenty left to make loads more.
    I am sorting our all my crafting stuff and am seriously going to get down to some card making, as when i do make them always get really great feedback about them.
    I made some stuffing for chicken and used the old bits of bread for bread crumbs, never done before, my kids and oh think am mad, but now think it will taste great due to smells from oven.
    Making some cakes for packed lunches next week, using what i already have in.
    refused to buy a newspaper made oh read on line papers instead.
    Hung our washing... usually just put in tumble dryer.
    Meal planner for week, including pack lunches
    cutting out coupons from the free tesco mag i got on friday.
    sorting out my books to list on amazon, and some stuff for e-bay.

    If i do all that then this will be the first time i have ever ever had a no spend day.:j
    :eek: grocery reduction planning now down to 50.00 per week
    seriously on track to be debt free in 12 months.......
  • I've stayed in this morning rather than going for my morning papers and coffee to the local coffee shop;
    Spent an hour or so ironing and watching some shows I'd recorded including Spendaholics which always gives me a wee boost on the moneysaving front;
    Packaging up a pair of old football boots I've sold to a South Korean collector for £31;
    Just about to crack on with filing all my financial information;
    May do some slice the pie stuff later as I'm about 20 reviews off £5.

    (Should add though that I've just bought a book off Ebay form the States for £11 of that £31 - eek!)
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
