Sunday 28/09/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hi to any new posters and a big shout to the usual gang:j

Today I will:
  • Check online banking
  • see if any clicks

    Morning All,

    Today I will
    • Finish my report for work (its due in tomorrow).
    • Visit my parents and go to the asian supermarkets nearby (lots of savings here! Need to stick to the list as there are so many nice things).
    • Sort out some of the washing so there isn't a massive pile as you walk into the living room.
    • Iron enough clothes for the week.
    • Return a top to New Look.
    • Set up a plan of work for the rest of the week to attempt to keep me on the straight and narrow and focus on being debt free.
Hope the day is lovely for all of you.

    Happy Sunday to you all!!

Have been a bit naughty, but in a DFW way!

I was clearing one of the tribes cupboard out (he has left home!) and found a Pringles tube full of change, I called him to come and collect but he said I could have it - all good so far! But he had started filling it without emptying the Pringles out, maybe starting 3 years ago....The coins were disgusting:eek: I washed, bleached, washed, boiled, washed the coins, but they still looked manky. Far too manky to bag up all shades of green, blue and brown. I wasn't sure if a cashier would accept them, so revolting looking were they. So I was naughty and put them in a Coinstar machine. I now have £10.33 to put towards the debt and saddle!! hurrah!! Do feel a bit bad for whoever has to sort the coins out, but they are clean and Coinstar do charge 7.9p in the pound

Other than that today I have/will
    make a loaf of bread
    do lots of housework
    meet my Dad for breakfast
    check banking
    make dinner from scratch
    enjoy the weather and horse

  • Morning!
All quiet here so far - went to a fancy dress birthday party last night but I drove so no boozing for me, hence I'm up and have walked the dog whilst OH is still snoring his head off!

    Anyway, today I will/have...
    • Just buy a paper
    • Make meals from food in the house (did a Tesco shop yesterday so plenty of choice)
    • Bake some cookies for goodies for the week
    • Phone NEXT (again!)
    • Check bank and quidco (if anything's come I'll pay it off the CC, will only be a few quid but better than nothing)
    • Work out budget for next 2 weeks (will be tight) until payday. I don't want to go into the OD this month and if I'm frugal I'll have paid it off and my wages next month will be all mine not the banks!
    • Have a general mooch about - it is Sunday!
    January grocery spending - £82.73/ £120
  • Good morning everyone

Today I will stay at home and watch the Grand Prix at 12h00, so NSD here today due to not leaving home. Will also be cooking food from the fridge/freezer and storecupboard. Will get one freezer empty by the end of the year lol.

    Cheers

  • Hi all especially sophiesmum, thanks for starting the thread.
I feel a bit down today, it feels quite a lonely journey ( see post on OS about Grocery Challenge spectacular failure). I'm scrimping, saving, making do and OH, whilst being on board in principle, just slips back into I want, I need, I deserve mode. I feel like a duck frantically paddling to make amends for overspending by him and by those unexpected expenses (eg brand new football kit dads in DSs team have decided is essential). I do try and keep a bit of contingency but just doesn't seem to stretch far enough.
    Sorry to moan
    Today I will
    • do all usual checking
    • line dry
    • bread in bm
    • yoghurt
    • Come back when I feel more cheerful!
    Belle
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.
