Hi all,
I keep hearing people say that they give their babies avocado, but as I hate the stuff I have no idea what to do with it!
Do I cook with it, give it to her on its own?? Help me with this horrid slimy green stuff!

Hi Alleycat,
When mine were small they liked it just mashed up with a fork. Depending on your daughters age you could just slice it and let her eat it as finger food.

Ah ha!! I think I will just mash it for the time being as she is being really funny with her teeth poor thing. She was doing so well with her solids, eating fingers of toast and really quite chewy stuff, but since they have started again she is refusing everything but very well mushed, almost pureed foods."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0

We loved mashed avocado and banana - e.g 1/2 an avocado and 1/2 a banana mashed together. Actually I used to do the whole avocado and banana so I could have some too. I gave it as a pudding and it went down well.0

It's brilliant "fast food" while on the go.
Just mash with a fork!
Have occasionnally mixed with banana, but mostly on its own.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Mine would just eat it plain mashed up when they were very young. Later on they'd eat it as sliced - a bit like banana as it is quite soft. Just don;t prepare avacado ahead of time because it turns funny (a bit like banans do too!).0

Hi, none of mine were particularly fond of avocado on it's own, so I used to mix it with yoghurt and banana. You could use papaya too, if you felt more exotic!
BTW there is a really funny children's picture book called the Avocado Baby all about a baby that is fed avocados to make him strong and he develops super human strength!! Be warned!!!0 -
I gave one of mine avocado as a baby, and once only! It went STRAIGHT THROUGH them :rolleyes:Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
