    Make an Aussie hat!!!!!!!!

Don't think I've ever seen anyone actually wearing one of those. :D I think it's one of those stereotype things. I don't think I'd bother keeping corks. I would just put them in my recycle bin for collection. I have enough stuff hanging around here that I "might" use again.

They are good cat toys too - mine loves chasing them and flipping them around, and then she can pick it up and take it with her because they are light!

For some reason I have a collection of old wine bottle corks and I have no idea what I can do with them - does anyone have any ideas?

I have a baby due soon so is there a toy I could make from them? Is there a charity that would use them?
I don;t want to just throw them out but I cannot think of how to use them.

    Thanks

how about cutting them in half and sticking them on a board to make a pinboard?

i collected loads a few years ago, and planned to make one, but for some reason i didn't ! no idea what i did with the corks!

  • Some of these ideas may be a little ambitious, but the corkboard and the clock look do-able. I definitely wouldn't make any toys for the baby out of them, cork crumbles very easily and could be a choking hazard.

ps I challenge you to make the chair :D

In my household, corks are always saved and used as firelighters (in winter we heat most of the house with a woodburner and an open fireplace). The corks go in a Kilner jar where they soak in white spirit or similar. Works really well - the soaked corks are also good for lighting the barbecue. Of course, as we live in France, wine and cider corks are plentiful, so we use them rather than waste them.
