Not much good if you don't have a cat, but ours loves chasing corks around the place, so we tend to keep them for that."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0

My Dad made me a pot stand like this, If I can get a picture, I will edit it in so you can see what it looks like.
If you want to do this and you haven't the patience to wait and gather up your corks, ask bars and restaurants to keep them for you.

Not a great pic, but it gives you an idea of what you can do.

Most corks are almost impossible to reinsert into their bottles, so it's useful to keep a few plastic bottle stoppers around for reuse if don't always finish a bottle in one sitting (or during Summer months, even if you do, since flies and wasps can get into open bottles the second you turn your back!)0 -
I can't get my head round the fact that some people reseal wine bottles because they arent finished in one sitting!
ex h made a large noticeboard with corks cut in half. I spose you could use them to make xmas decorations - little people with wool arms and legs and button feet.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Sarah, my sister makes a bottle of red last almost a week! She brings her own when she visits, as we only drink cider in this house. However on the odd occasion when we've been given a bottle of red, we re-seal it so that sis can take it home with her! No point leaving it here, it would only get thrown away.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

ooh-er! Do you get corked cider? In France it is lovely, and they are only allowed to use fresh apples:) And the trouble of what to do with the corks...Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

my younger sister worked in a takeaway in a run down area when she was 17. One night a rather drunk woman and a sailor came in, she was swigging from a bottle of rum, and staggered over, asking "ave yer gorra cork duck"? my sister said she'd go and have a look, (chef usually threw the wine corks in the bin but there could be an odd one) after searching my sister asked the foreign chef if he'd kept any, he said no. My sister then took her a bit of clingfilm instead, thinking that the woman would be taking a taxi home with the sailor and had to secure the drink. The woman looked puzzled, my sister demonstrated wrapping the clingfilm round the end of the bottle. "there you are - sorted, how's that then?- sorry there weren't any corks he's thrown them in the bin" she looked puzzled, then said "worra bout dr pepper then?" she'd been asking for coke not a cork - she was a yorkie!! :rotfl:0

Hi,
I saw an article on how to make Christmas decorations with wine corks here:
AllThingsChrismas.com
I think they're rather nice, although you have to use a drill to make a hole in the cork, which for me would probably end in disaster!'Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.'0
