My CPU Usage is flickering between 58 and 100%. Is that bad?
Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

    Yes.

Back in posts 4 & 5 are some indications for the ideal % usage.

What's running on your PC? Check out the "ctrl+alt+del" facility (hit all 3 at the same time) to bring up Task anager.

Look at the running processes and see which one(s) is/are using up all that CPU.

Post back here with the exact name(s) and description(s) of the offending process. That may be the answer to all your slowness issues.

If there's bad stuff running we'll see what we can do to fix it for you.

System Idle Process is running at between 95 and 98!! What is that???
    That's perfectly OK.

It means that very little of your computer's processing power is being used up.

You seem to have no problems there but are you having other problems?

It may be due to bad weather conditions as this can have an adverse affect.

And will global warming make things better or worse in the long run? ;)

Well if its like anything like my cable I hope the sun stays in or I will have to have another new cable casing run up the outside wall as the last one was ruined.....

Mind you I found out on Fri just gone that my telephone connection was
crackly as Telwest put the junction box in upside down so water couldnt
run off/out.... what a bunch of wallies (sometimes) :rotfl:
  • really fed up now, i have come onto the pc to do this post as for some reason the internet is faster on here than it is on my laptop, the laptop is a better spec than the pc faster ect, really don;t understand it. i have done 3 scans of each of the registery cleaner, spyware cleaner and my panda platinum and it has picked up nothing, i have downloaded nothing not added any software. Basically nothing has changed but the speed has gone downhill, i can't use the pc because i said OH can have this whilst i use my laptop. Want to cry  the pc is just zipping through the pages

Well its dial up ok, maybe the cable might be a bit duff, any fluff in the modem slot
where you push in the cable, give a gentle blow in there with PC off,
also try not to have a modem cable longer than 5mtrs as you can get file
    degredation coming down the line...

Also some antivirus software checks a webpage before you see it,
to make sure there are no nasties on some sites this is especially true of Avast
    webguard.
