Hi
Does anyone know if its true that when you buy a pay as you go phone from carphone warehouse its unlocked to any network?
I need a payg phone for my son whos 11 and not the best at looking after things so dont want to pay a fortune, but still get a modern looking phone, so if they are unlocked there are some quite reasonable ones on there. He is on 02 and the phones on this network always seem dearer.

It used to be true! But now o2 lock the phones in CPW to their own network but I believe orange and t-mobile are still all sold unlocked!

I have bought 2 phones in the last one month from them and they are both unlocked. I rang them up and visited them in the store - was told that all their PAYG are unlocked [clearance ones aren't tho!].

I always buy from CPW and they are always unlocked but i usually always buy them on Orange as they tend to be the cheapest so i'm not sure if it is just Orange phones or not.
