  • Well I had to go shopping yet again last night and spent £50.06 bringing my total spend so far this month to £158.61 so I'm already £8.61 over budget :(

This is largely due to the fact my oven broke around a week and a half ago so I have a freezer full of food that I can't cook  So now I have to find the money to either fix it or buy a new one ( It's very old so I'm not sure if it can be fixed, plus we have already had it fixed for something else in the last 6 months so I think we're just delaying the inevitable! )

So I'm having to go shopping each week to buy food I can just cook on the hob. I'll admit I'm not a great cook so I'm struggling thinking what I can do apart from spag bol, sausage and mash etc

Morning everyone - just a real quicky, FREE RANGE EGGS are only £2 for 15 in Asda at the moment.
Just to say the Scottish Coop has 9 free range eggs for £1.41. This works out 2p more per egg than Asda, but may be of help to anyone who does not live near an Asda (hmmmm think our nearest one is Aberdeen- 6 hours by boat, or maybe Perth- 1.5 hours by boat and about 5-6 by road!).
Hope all are well. [strike]NSD for me today[/strike], eating leftovers mainly and making a chicken roulade (although as I am at the dentist _pale_ later I am not sure how much I will be able to eat!).
No NSD, went into town as we needed some more Cravendale (forgot about that) and got some nice pork ribs and a couple of other things to add to the freezer- there is room and I am working well using the older stuff first so I am quite happy to have added these in. Sticky pork ribs will be a treat one night for us all and I wonder what DS will do with those!?
    Hi
I have a few tins of hot dogs in the fridge which I've had for ages and wondered if anyone had a recipe I could use them in?
    Many Thanks
How about a fritatta/omelette ?- you would need to chop them up and add along with some potatoes, red peppers, whatever veg you have in, to some whisked eggs/milk.
Finally, just to ask, does anyone else on GC not like using supermarkets all the time ? I am finding that I detest even going in big shops now and am moving toward the local shops and our small COOP. I also find myself questioning cheap meat (not cheap cuts or reduced stuff) but value meat etc. We are no means rich but I really want to make sure we eat decent quality food.

  • Hi all, well as you'll see by my signture that i've gotten very close to the end of my money. Last saturday we brought 2 pack of chicken breast which were on special £3 off each pack so, i'll have enough chicken and mince to see us through to December.

Evening everyone, just popped in to update signature and catch up on thread.

Popped to shops yesterday after work and spent £40+ .

We are sailing pretty close to our budget this month with only a few pounds left.
Although we have stated to buy things in for xmas. Will probably increase our budget next month to allow for extra purchases.;)

  • Hi all,

Sorry i haven't posted for a long time this month, in fact maybe not since the beginning of the month :eek:but i've been really busy, although i have been sticking to my budget.;)

( Slightly OT)I do have some good news for me, after over a year and a half without a job i have just started a new one!:j i feel so priviledged(sp?)when so many are sadly loosing theirs. And what is even more fantastic is that the job is working in a new Mr M that will be opening very soon near me ( thinking of the staff discount here!:rotfl:)

Thank you all for you help, ideas and inspiration on this thread. I will continue to read and keep an eye out for those great tips, even if i don't get time to post much.;)

Good luck to everyone as we get ever closer to the end of the month and fingers crossed.
