*note to self, don't go shopping with OH and the grandkids*
Went to Asda on Saturday for a few bits.....fatal   I spent £39.01  taking my spend so far to £162.16:rolleyes: but hopefully I'll manage with a bit of milk and veg next weekend so might make it........
MrsM - you aren't sad, OH has been sat with his seed catalogues for weeks now planning next years veg  Overwintering onions and garlic are in already!0 -
With things like hearts & kiver, I've found by dicing them up fairly small, the offspring just see lumps of meat, so when they ask I can honestly say it's lamb or pork
I buy a fair bit for Pup's dinners & as long as the offspring don't see me preparing it, they've begun to ask what the smell is in a 'mmm' sort of way as opposed to 'eeyuk'.
If I ever get the chance to try out my Baldrick SIZE=1]cunning plan!
Currently trying to use as much of the freezer stash as possible--the little tabletop one needs a defrost anyhow--so I can start getting bits in from the crimbo ranges & special offer meat. We had a delightful assortment last night of 10 fish fingers, 2 bits of fish in batter & a selection of party sized spring rolls left over from LAST December :rotfl:
Having said that, there were not enough chips so we had the mini potato rosti & I was surprised that the brood enjoyed them...s'pose I'll have to find a recipe for themDinners over the weekends are very much pot luck now with the offspring usually off doing what grown-up kids do
unless I physically invite them for a roast...even tho they live here

Week 3 - overspent - slightly but did get 3 packets of prawns RTC and best Wiltshire ham x2 RTC - all in freezer
Freezer is full again - thought thought and rethought my shopping list this week and swapped loads of the "routine always buy or luxury purchases" into meat meat and more meat
So main shop came in at £40.23 but went in for lunchbox stuff/milk yesterday with my purse rather than £5 and spent £23.66 (but did pick up the prawns, ham etc) so weekly total was £63.89
So running total weeks 1-3 = £161.14 with £138.86 in the pot to spend0 -
Hello to all!
Well I finally did it.... I made my own bread! I do feel like I cheated a bit using the bread mix and not make it from scratch but it was still great to have non-shop bought bread for a change!
I wouldn't say it turned out perfect since it didn't really rise as much as I had hoped (not sure if I should have left it longer rather than just following the instructions on the packet) and also I don't have a proper loaf tin so it spread out more than up! But it still tastes fab which is the main thing!0 -
Shopping this weekend actually came in just over the weekly allowance of £50.00 and that was doing main shop in Asda and then popping to Aldi's for the bread, cat biscuits and my moisturising cream. I must say I felt really smug while totting up the bills this weekend, even DH noticed that I was keeping the budget at the limit

Hi All
Off sick - swollen ankle, bruised knees and elbows - don't ask - I was sober!!!, so it's my chance to catch up and post. OH did the shopping at the weekend as he could walk and I couldn't. Laid on the sofa like Lady Muck being waited on - made a nice change. He spent £23 at Tescos (got the Tescos BBQ frozen range reduced to go in freezer - some defrosting for tea tonight (under grill) and £6 at Sainsbugs. Have enough to last til the weekend now, he forgot bananas so will get them tonight when he finishes work. Payday 28th so will declare then. Still have £20+ in budget so will be under again. Have been given £25 M&S vouchers so will be spending that on Xmas food and goodies.Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!0 -
Hello all
Have just added up my spends so far and updated siggy. £113.40 out of £125. Have to go to next Tuesday (but will really try to stretch to the 1st Nov) all I need to get in between now and then are some veggies and home-made pizza toppings so I'm confident I'll make it, which is great considering it wil lbe the first time I've come in on/under budget since I started GC-ing. One thing I'm concerned about though, I'm struggling to get enough (any) fresh fruit in my diet these days since I've cancelled the organic fruit n veg delivery malarky.
SRNo outfit is complete without cat hair or baby vomit :j0 -

Just a quickie.
Went out for a walk with DS to park and ended up buying us sausage rolls to eat on the way home as a treat (however it started to rain and back was getting sore so we ate them while waiting for the bus!). Also got some crips and a couple of cans of juice in as treats for us. Did not need anything else as we still living a lot from freezer. Last week two weeks of Oct and first two weeks of next month will be a freezer run down, buying only things like yogs, milk, fruit, veg, catfood, stuff to go with freezer bits if need be etc (I have all the meal plans done
). The latter part of Nov will then be a massive stock up of meat from butcher, top up of any other necessary frozens, and then weekly milk, fruit, veg, cold meat shops. This should allow a freezer tidy and leave one drawer free to gradually add a turkey breast, chipolatas, bacon etc for Christmas (buying one thing each week).
Ok, enough for now, cw18- brave you trying hearts- let us know how they tastand whether your DS tries them.
MrsM hope you are over your nasty cold.
Well done everyone.
