gtx - thanks for the info :) think I'll bob in for a looksie, but possibly tomorrow rather than today as I'm a tad tired !! My own fault for watching TV until 2am when I knew I had to be up at 7:30  Like you, I seem to have forgotten the meaning of 'ready meal', although I am currently using 1 or 2 a month -- for DH when DS and I have pizza, but as he was always the 'ready meal' junky he's quite happy with that ;)

donnajt - I wish I could say I have some freezer space..... my parents called round last night (they came down to bring some boxes of stuff for my DD, so called in to see us at the same time) -- and they left me with 4 carrier bags of cooking apples from their back garden that apparently have about 11 lbs of apples in each !!!!!! I've no space at all in my freezers having packed chicken thighs into there yesterday morning, so I'm really going to have to figure out the most 'bulky' meals I can pull from there for the next few days ;)

Just spotted I haven't updated my signature for yesterday, so must get that done this morning.....

wow i'm not doing too well, i have spent around £170 of my £200 budget, and i now have a virtually empty freezer as i left the door open last week!!!!!

but to look on the bright side i'd been ,meaning to defrost for ages, and at least i have done that now :)

i think that i may end up going over, but at least it won't have been because i didn't try, i am planning a shopping trip to morrisons tonight, and will hopefully pick up some bargins...

I think I'm going to seriously have to look into getting another cooker :( The past couple of weeks things have been boiling dry even on a simmer, the latest being a glorious pan of chicken stock for Pup on Saturday. Thing is...I like all gas, but it seems to be gas hob & electric oven.

I know I'll be told remoska is the way to go, but I can cook dinner for us & Pup all in one go now whereas I think I would have to do at least two runs with a remoska. Add that the offspring are not too tolerant of having slow cooker dinners either & I don't really think it would be a viable option till they move out at least :p

I need to get some red lentils in, so I hope yooze lot have left some on the shelves..might try green ones too. There's a couple of other threads that are forecasting even more troubles to come very soon & are suggesting people try to keep a month's worth of food & cash in the house :o What scary times we are living in eh....

Not read or heard anything like that, but it sounds so scary - I have been not worrying about things I cannot control - like mortgage rates as I can't do any thing to stop or help, so I am trying to get ourselves sorted with regards to personal spending etc Also we have enough stuff for the kids for xmas so if things do get really bad, I know we don't have to worry about them not having pressies!

My new fridge freezer should be arriving later :j, so I am going to get my meal plan sorted and then do some online shopping.
On the cooker front, I do want a remoska but not instead of a cooker, so good luck, maybe try freecycle?

Also, I made a bran flake loaf and its yummy :D great with butter on with a cuppa and it used our stale bran flakes up a treat ;)

Sticking to meal plans/shopping lists really do help!

I've spent £9.27 on lunch box stuff and milk in Mr. T's yesterday.

I will meal plan tonight so that I can do a shopping list.

I prepped loads of apples last night so will make some apple cakes, tarts and a crumble so that's the snacks sorted.
