I'm looking to convert some pounds to NZ dollars. I'm prepared to wait as long as it takes for the rate to be very favourable.
What could I expect it to get up to?
1GPB = $2.90NZD ?

I can't think you'd get anywhere that much, where did the 2.90 figure come from?Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:
"Buy now because house prices only ever go UP, UP, UP."0 -
Has happened a couple of times in the last 15 or so months..0

The pound has fallen alot recently. You might never see that rate of exchange ever again0

Hi
www.xe.com has nz dollars at 2.85 at mo which is good now.
I did manage to get $3 to the £1 just over 2 years ago!
We are going to NZ in the new year and not sure if to buy some dollars now or wait.
Sure that when I booked some flights with air nz link in may I only got 2.6 or might have been less.0 -
You might get a better rate after the 23rd October 2008 when the next meeting of the Reserve Bank of NZ decides how much to cut interest rates. Most pundits expect 75 - 100 basis points. Also the NZ Labour Party said if re-elected they will guarantee 100% off all retail bank deposits."Money is truthful. If a person speaks of their honour, make sure they pay in cash."0

I just converted £5000 to NZ dollars for my mum who is flying out to stay with my brother for 6 months. She is planning on having a ball while out there!
I got just shy of 2.8, which didn't seem too bad. Might have been worth waiting a bit longer though. So difficult to judge isn't it.
I've been watching here http://www.moneycorp.com/currencies/index.cfm?currency=nzd&source=google&kw=to%20nz%20dollars0
