Well this thread has made me laugh too and to add insult to injury, I found this very item in Asda the other day for a fiver! I actually bought one for my pregnant mate, but am thinking she won't appreciate the sentiment now after reading all the comments! lol :rotfl:0

And before anyone comments yes i'm a first time mum who didn't no better at the time of purchase
Don't feel bad, I bought lots of must-have gadgets for the first baby, that were consigned to the 'what-a-waste-of-money' cupboard by the second! When I had my first child disposable nappies were very new and frankly not very good. As a nanna of 3 I have to say that I find them a godsend now.
I save all my bread packets and use them to wrap the soiled nappies in. If you put the nappy in, twist the top and then turn it back on itself it double wraps the nappy and there is still enough left to tie the ends. These would end up in the bin anyway, so do not add to the use of plastic.Cheers

i used one for a while, in the bathroom where he was changed. you push the nappy down with your hand, so a dirty one might explode all over you  i found that dirty ones needed a nappy sack first, to help with the smell.
I prefer to use a wrapper. It's okay if you are going out to the dustbin straight away, but in the dark/rain etc. i didn't, so i was putting them into our normal bin. it made the whole downstairs smell, no matter how often the bin was emptied.
for us this nappy wrapper worked well. we didn't use it all the time though, only on occasions where we didn't want to go straight to the outside bin. cartridges would be too expensive i think, if you used it for every nappy.
it doesn't smell really, apart from when you empty it.
i found that the bin bag type of bin smelled really bad - a lidded nappy bucket was better for washable nappies.52% tight0 -
As someone who was considering buying one of these nappy wrapper systems, I was glad I read this thread first! Probably won't bother now.
For any cat owners out there, you may be aware they do a similar thing for cats called a litter locker that you empty the litter tray deposits into. We have one but by the sounds of things, it is made a LOT better than the nappy wrapper cos it actually works! It keeps the cat poo in and doesn't smell at all! And I'm sure you can imagine how bad cat poo etc can be lol!
Oh well, it looks like I'll be using nappy sacks for baby! 300 for 99p from Morrisons. Sounds good to me!0
