R4 help - Please!

What you may find is that the Micro SD Card that you are using in the R4 is a High Compression card, which unfortunately seem to be everywhere now, I even sell them on my website.

The genuine R4 does not support SDHC Cards and they do not support more than 2GB, with your explanation, the card seems to be working ok as it can read the menu system, which is a small application and not very compressed.

Unfortunately the fault is with the nds files, they are already heavily compressed and when stored on a card that is trying to compress the file even further, it gets corrupted.

I would try using a smaller sized card like a 512mb, these cards are rarely found in HC format and should prove if you have a faulty R4 Card.

Tokyojon, I tried my 512mb micro SD that I have in my mobile and that was the same though?

Also, they came as a package, SD card + R4 so surly they should work together?

My friend is sending the R4 card back to get a new new, hopfully is was just a dud and the new one will work.
