Advice, recommendations etc...

Morning Peeps,

ok, currently with 3, 2 x 12 mth contracts that finished last June, £20 each and 500 mins, 100 texts each.
Been waiting and looking for a new iphone beater, boss is happy with her SE flip thingy.
My Pile-o-Sh!te Nokia 6288 is beginning to fall apart, network round here is not very good as connection is variable.

I want to move to a new network, don't care who as long as it's not Orange!

Questions are:
Phone for me? Omnia, HTC, others?
Her???
Retention deals are ok - but what about new deals?
I don't want to pay £35 month to get a phone I like the look of.
Our last 2 bills came in at £32 each (but that included holiday calls), normally bills would be around £22 (because of 0845 no., extra texts etc.) and usually we both have many minutes left over but texts are tight, so could drop to 300 minutes and more texts.
There's more: SWMBO has a company phone. So it's only personal calls for her, maybe PAYG?

My brain is fried because of mortgage stuff but I really need a new phone, so any and all suggestions welcome!!!

Before doing anything find out the retention offers from 3 - if you read the 3 retentions thread you'll see there is a wide variety of offers - some are getting a new phone plus monthly charge of £5 "for life", and it would be a shame to miss out if you are eligible for such a good deal. And if they won't do a good deal, at least you know to just give in your notice and prepare to move on - always with the chance they come back during the notice period with a better deal to keep you.
  • Done that - but just not happy with 3, poor service, loads of scammy calls after each renewal (Hi, calling on behalf of 3, notice that you are due an upgrade etc - no, new contract, now sod off!!!) and as I said, poor network coverage so it's not an option any more. Cost is one thing, but if you can't make/receive calls then it doesn't matter if it's £30, a fiver or free!

If you can't get coverage, then steer clear of orange too - 3's calls get routed via orange when they have no coverage, and it seems you still get bad coverage.
