PC World Business Smartplan - spread the cost of IT

Thats not correct. Technical support is not part of the lease.
The lease product does not include technical support or warranty. It is purely the leasing - the financial element of it. Take a look at www.smartplaninfo.co.uk it explains it all on there.
You've completely missed the point. When you buy SmartPlan your technical support is provided by PC World. Fact. Technical support is always a consideration when buying or leasing from any company. It doesn't matter a jot what the financial details are if the technical support is rubbish because it then makes the product uneconomical. The very fact you're using the smallprint to show what financial only contract is demonstrable of not looking at the entire product. I mean what good is low rates if you're left with business critical equipment not working?
I'll reiterate because you seemed to still be missing the point:
Buy SmartPlan = Your technical support by PCW = poor buying decision
Unless you can name a single instance of buying SmartPlan and the technical support for the equipment isn't provided by PCW then I don't think you're getting what we're saying."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Dont buy a Tech Guy Service - thats where their technical support comes from.
I can walk in today, buy 3 laptops Take out a smartplan for £2k and walk out within the hour.
A HP laptop breaks. I walk into store. PCW say "As you dont have a warranty that you took out at purchase we will send it back to HP, It is nothing to do with us"
Technical Support is provided by the manufacturer....
Next question?0 -
Just to point out - Smartplan is tax-detuctible. .
All leasing contracts are tax deductible - so I'd suggesting researching better companies if this is what you require. Talking to other companies your size in the locality to see who they use, and talking about the financial pros and cons with your accountant. They also get BIG bonuses out of it so try to haggle a good deal (i.e. software chucked in free)
Just like, no doubt, their heavily criticised extended warranty plans. Just another reason not to go with PCW/Smartplan.0 -
Certain HP laptops are exclusive to PC World. Therefore HP are rubbish? A loose analogy I know, but still true.
Actually a completely false analogy.
HP "PC World Model" = only available at PC World = reliant on PCW support = rubbish product
HP other models not commented on.
SmartPlan = only available at PC World = reliant on PCW support = rubbish product
RentSmart other products not commented on."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Or you could buy 3 reasonably well specs laptops from Dell for example with 3 years next-day business on-site support for £2K, and you'll own them for life.0 -

You could lease them from Dell and still have made an infinitely better choice than anything provided by PC World.
There's only one thing PC World are good at, gypping you at some point.0 -

I agree 100%. I have never said that PCW are reasonabley priced/spec or they have great products.
But the starter here is whether a company can afford the financial outlay if they are a new business.
This is going round in circles.
(PS - not to start another round of 'I disagree', but you can own the product at the end of the agreement)0 -

But you could lease them from Dell (or any other good business manufacturer/supplier, as anewhope suggests, or have a business loan to cover a purchase, the interest of which can be written down.
It's not going around in circles most of us here suggest that buying a product, or a lease with PCW or linked to PCW by SmartPlan is a bad business decision, not that leasing in the right circumstances with a quality company is a bad decision.0 -
For such a relatively low priced item leasing doesnt make much sense , you will end up paying well over the odds for it and never own it ,( what happens at the end of the term do you hand it back or is there a secondary rental ?)
You can claim the vat back on an outright purchase , lease agreements are tax deductable but with the purchase of and assett you will make an allowance for depreciation every month /year which can almost work out the same .
For the sake of a few hundred pounds it much better to purchase it ...............IF it is essential to your business that you have one of course0 -

OK, I will bow down when you name me 4 companies. I can lease a laptop from as newhope suggests.
