I bought 2 x roll ends of wallpaper in Laura Ashley - very nice Gold Marbly stuff . 99p per roll!!! will do all the xmas pressies and most of next years birthdays too. I also bought some brilliant mini silk covered crackers in "Pier" in the sale and I will be using these instead of bows to embellish my wrapped gifts. Tags all made from last years cards - just like I used to do in the 70's!!.
  • B&Q had a clear-out of some of its wallpapers, reduced to £2 a roll - given the fashion for fancy feature weallpaper I got some highly decorative stuff and 1 roll for £2 will do me all Christmas!!!

I saw some nice wrapping paper 3 rolls for £1 in card factory so i'm gonna use that to wrap some presents.

I was also thiking of getting some parcel paper and getting my son to put his hand and footprints all over it and use that to wrap the presents for his dad and grandparents.

    :santa2:

Fab idea, I may have to pinch it :D :T :T
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

  • Will be using brown paper again this year. I mixed raffia with ribbons that we had left over and that looked quite effective. I also made my own tags by 'ripping' xmas cards (recycled of course) so they had a shaggy appearance and then I made a mix of coffee, cinnamon and vanilla and painted this on both sides of the card and very gently heated the cards in the oven. The smell was divine and everyone thought they were great - so will be doing that again this year.

I Used Brown Parcel Paper Last Year And Tied Tartan/gingham Ribbon Around Them, Then I Tied A Candy Cane And Hm Tag On, Looked Really Effective And Old Fashioned, Everyone Said How Fantastic All The Presents Looked, For The Kids Presents I Found Some Really Old Fashion Traditional Father Xmas Paper Really Looked Like The Elves Had Wrapped Them.x

Last year Tesco's had red and green parcel paper as well as the usual brown stuff and I used all three for my pressies, tied with string. They looked fab.

I really want to be able to do this this year. If anyone sees green or red parcel paper please could you let me know (PM me).

    Thanks

Instore often have plain coloured kraft (parcel) paper in with the wrapping paper. When I was in last week, my store had red, along with a non-christmassy green, blue and orange at 99p a roll. I've used it to make party bags before, and whilst thin, it's nice and strong.

I have loads of paper left over from previous years, so in a true MSE and green way, I'll use all that up this year. The only new paper I'll buy is the one roll that Santa uses (and would you know it, he even leaves me the roll-end for next year ;) ).

Next year though, I intend to do some potato printing with the kids :D

Last year I threaded 3 or 4 of these onto the tag string for each parcel - made them all sound very festive and looked good too - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/40-MULTI-COLOUR-BRIGHT-JINGLE-BELLS-6x8mm-Fast-Delvry_W0QQitemZ160265759985QQihZ006QQcategoryZ150078QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I've bought some more this year, and will combine them with some christmas tree beads I found on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380070304988&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=330272597858&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&usedrule2=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo%3DDR%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D2)

Another decoration I've used in the past is small wooden tree decorations - last year Instore were doing a box of around 20 rocking horses, angels, sleighs etc for about the £1.50 mark.
