Do it Jelly, like you I was so scared it was daft really, but it is not is it, when you go to bed it all goes round in your brain, and you hear this dreadful LAUGH.. what us except YOU.. go away. Having been there for nights now I thought to hell with this I am making myself even more ill.

Jelly they are nice, you dont even have to mention BR but like me I am sure you will at some point and you will not find yourself judged, just the opposite.

I have no idea why it was accepted and others have not been, but have been later. The one thing I do know is I banked with a certain MAJOR bank for over 18 years, into the IVA had to open the step account with NW and I cannot fault them either, but not even they had the touch this lady did on the phone, and that was face to face with NW.

What stupid Avatar, can I ask Dez... me a bloke NO I am a lady honest, have a very deep voice always have had. so used to people on phone saying Mr..R still annoys me none the less... would be interested to know why you thought I was a BLOKE... ha ha... last time I looked... all dicks are Private Eyes.. and yes I do still have a sense of humour you have to have to go through this but a !!!!!! I aint got one and aint got one !.

Stuff me like a turkey.. OH NO PLEASE Dez.. could say I was veggie.. then.. but I am not... ha ha, and how much did you lose, did your OH think I was female then...

Okay I think you have to read your terms and conditions people as the 3 strikes and you are out is probably in there, so Debs dont mess up again, or you may lose your account, and as a BR your account is as precioius like diamonds.

The account is open to BRs, with no questions asked from my experience today but mess up and then you only have YOU to blame. I did just once on the Nat West one and I took money out not realising the Council Tax was not showing as cleared, my withdrawal only took me over by £3.24 and you know what they never charged me or wrote to me, which is why I have time for NW.

So from the bank account to my next step, tomorrow I will be booking my court date.

And then it will be HELP me out here, I am sure, but I remain positive on they cannot send me to the gallows.

Nothing is ever set in stone, and nothing in life is easy, you know even millionaires die from cancer, you cannot buy health, you may prolong the life, but at the end of the day we all came in naked and we all leave the same way.

In between we make mistakes and we have to sort them out, and the people on here are wonderful at helping people like me take the little steps to climb those mountains ahead of us.

And if opening my new account was my road to a new life I am so thankful the people on here told me to do it, as now I have I feel so much more positive.

Hope this has been helpful to some of you.

  • DebS just remember after three "mistakes" the co-op can withdraw your account

Thanks Rylynn, its something i keep meaning to do (for the past 18 months:p )

I dont want to really as i would be happy to leave things as they are, but may not have a choice soon, so at least i will know what to have to hand, rather than searching for it while making small talk:rotfl:

Thanks baab - 3 strikes & I'm out huh? Not intending to get my sums wrong again. Well hopefully anyway - you do have to bear in mind I'm an ex-teacher. Yeh - Maths. :rotfl:
Something else for you all to chuckle at!;)

A maths teacher getting sums wrong. what chance have I got then. as my maths is dreadful and always has been! I cannot even use a calculator and get the same figure twice!

I felt very relieved to have done this first step on my road to BR. I slept better last night as well.

I will post the same type of thing about the BR and OR face to face or phone call as well, as I have found others to be very valuable when reading their experiences.

Still want to know why you thought I was a bloke Dez!

  • I just love my co-op cashminder account:D ....from my lovely pale green visa electron card to their excellent online banking....I wouldn't want to change even if I could get a 'proper' current account. When I phoned to apply I also blurted my reason...that I was going bankrupt and it was likely my BOS account would be frozen....and I couldn't have been treated more courteously. I am partial to the Manc accent anyway and the guy who took my application was friendly and funny and sounded like much sexier version of Liam Gallagher:p

Oh was not told about online banking Eternal, I have never had that, so will be interested to get that as well. Hope the welcome pack tells me all about it.

It is nice to know a bank out there treats people like human beings and not criminals, the whole experience from picking up the phone to putting it down was a great one. Much nicer than the creditors on the phone! Mind you no calls for 3 days, better not speak too soon or the phone will ring!

They have a wicked sense of humour up there and it makes life easier when you are treated like a person not just another phone call to answer.

  • Yeah there great, mine was all done over the phone too. Although I did have to send off some ID, which I took into the nearest branch (30 mile round trip!!!). all done and dusted.

Online banking, easy as anything, just ring them up when your account is set up, they will ask you for 5 questions and it works there and then.
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Thanks for that Shadowdragon, I will get my account details and then do as you say.

Can I ask did you have to have money in the account first to do the online banking? stupid question maybe but I have no idea how online banking even works, just never bothered with it before now.

Rylynn, great that it was so easy but beware - a bank is a bank. I thought that way about Barclays once. My account was never overdrawn in 18 years of having it (at least not over the overdraft limit) and then one day .... They forgot all about my 18 years of being a perfect client and started calling me non stop, threatening etc. Same with first direct - they said I was a very creditworthy person, then one day.... I'm sure the Coop would be the same.

But you are right at least they opened an account for me!

    :j :j

  • nope didnt have a penny in when set up. Its just accessing your account online doesnt matter how much is in there. TBH I hardly use it as my IB and DLA goes into the missuses account, atm I use it to save for Road tax and MOT for the car.

Thanks for that information, I know my mum uses her online system, I think though I have been told to be careful that I do make sure that the amount of the balance is correct, as some things may have not cleared when I look.

    Thank you again. RL
