Creation Consumer Finance - Warning

  • Ordered bed from Dreams via my local Bridgend branch, and took up the buy now pay later option through Creation Consumer Finance Ltd. Wished I had just paid the bed off in full straight away.

The devil is certainly in the detail with this firm's contracts - if you can, I would avoid having anything at all to do with either firm, as they are very much hand in glove in all that they do.

I'm wondering if it's the TYPE of credit agreement which causes problems? Buy now pay later seems to cause more problems (skimming through this thread) than interest free credit.

I bought two sofas from Midlands Co-op and, as they were offering interest free credit (though a deposit of 10% had to be paid) - I decided to take the credit, turns out was through Creation.

DD went through fine every month for 12 months and other than the occasional 'snail mail' mailshot offering me further credit I had no problems.

However maybe it's time for retailers to make it clear that credit will be arranged through a third party?

And I don't work for either company and if you (can be bothered to) trawl through my posts about 2 years ago you'll read the dilemma I had choosing them!

  • i pay my car insurance through creation,dd each month...anyway,last week i got payed late and the dd never got paid,so this morning a letter from creation landed on my step saying that they have noe added an extra £15.00 dabs for admin fees, which cheered me up no end..then i had a look on this site and somone said that if you pay with your card over the phone they will charge you £3.00 (admin fee again)..so im not a happy bunny!.
So i phoned them and got through to a human being after 10 min wait...press option 1 for this,2 for the f88kin other, arrrgggg.
anyway,i kicked off didnt i,told him i was going to close my account etc, then he came back and said i didnt have to pay the £15,00 quiid, and there will be no charge for paying over the phone with my card.........1 nil to me...the moral of the story is..dont take sh*t,of these robbing bast**ds,take it to the wire with em,and they might cancel your fees...god bless everybody, and hold tight as we are all sinking like a fu*kin stone.

So your payment wasn't made and it's their fault?
Shouldn't you be taking this up with your employers - if they paid you late and DDs failed because there wasn't the money they should pick up the tab.
I suggest you ask them nicely though.

No, I'm NOT missing the point. They have an agreement with you which you broke (by not having the funds to pay the DD). And, if you read your contract it will have T&Cs written in including what happens when a payment is missed or late.
Ringing them up and being cross with them has got you somewhere - but what about your employers failure to pay YOU your wages on time?

You call it 'fleecing the public' they call it making a profit.
If you don't want them to [STRIKE]fleece the public[/STRIKE] make a profit then save up for the things you wish to buy and pay in full at the time of purchase!

Do you actually intend to take this up with your employer?

I work for a retailer that uses creation.

My 2p worth Ive used them in the past 2 catches

    1. If its interest free then there is a admin fee (Usually £25)
    2. Charge for using Debit card (Pay by bank transfer or cheque aviods this)

Using them on a personal level and business level if you know the 2 above then you should be ok.
    OP pot £141.92
  • Okay, these companies are not governed by an outside body, they decide what is a "fair" fee to pay,and you pay it.
Im all for makin a profit, but the is a differance between making a profit, and taking the !!!!,open you eyes, look around..you are getting squeezed on a daily basis, food prices, energy prices.Yet no rise in your wages.
I carnt understand why you are "all for" these companies, considering you are a slave, with 2 children.
What do you think it is going to be like in a few years time?
  • Charlie I think you should get a job with them- mabye you already do?
  • I'm dubious about Creation since I realised that they are in cahoots with One Call insurance - just do a search on this site and you'll see what I mean!
