Yeap,
And miserable customers complain more.0 -
Hey I stopped going to my usual PO as they were just so miserable there and even when you tried to be polite they snubbed you!
They have opened another PO which is even closer now which is good, the staff are not too bad but some have PO attitude for some reason. One time I went down there and realised when she was dealing with my package I reaslised that I had stuck the stamps on the wrong side (doh) and I mentioned it to her and she then ripped off the stamps and put them on the right side but obviously they were no longer very sticky and were half hanging off! I was worried that the stamps would fall off and the buyer of my Ebay parcel would have to pay the other end if they fell off which was likely.
So I asked her if she could put some tape on them to hold them in place (no I didn't mean over the whole stamp, just the edges) but she said no they did not have any tape. I said ok I will pop home and get some and come back and to keep the parcel aside. So home I went and came back with some tape, she then said that I was not allowed to use tape and refused to give me the parcel back! Unbelievable as she knew that I was going home to get it... don't think that she likes me for some reason and was seriously taking the pi**. I then had to go home again and come back with some glue and by this time was real mad and did not say a word to her. I felt like telling her to shove it!
I have just come to accept that most of them are miserable (didn't think a job could be that bad) and just appreciate it when someone is nice
Anyway enough moaning, look forward to brighter days!0 -
I've just realised how lucky I am after reading these posts. I'm on first name terms with Graham who runs the village post office. I don't live in the same village but its only just down the road from me. If I'm in a hurry or he's busy, he'll take my parcels and I'll pop in later and pay him. Always a friendly chat to be had and he doesn't mind how many or few parcels I have. He says that ebayers generate a majority of his profit so he welcomes them with open arms. There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

Mandles wrote:Yeah i had exactly the same item & packaging go for £5.50 & £7.20!!Also it was this stupid woman who overcharged me.Instead of starting it over again as she got in a right muddle she did lots of sums & overcharged me £5.Needless to say when i rung later to say this had happened they said it was impossible(complete rubbish).I have been overcharged lots of times & the money never turns up!
someone posted they make pennies from the postage,.. so i guess thats a reason for the overcharge,.. what ever price they say goes at the end of the day.. (along as its not way over priced),.. maybe its done by mistake cuzs i really do think its a stressed out job,,
the local po closed by me as it was in the local safeways which got sold off too morrisons and they didnt want the site,. so i was looking to open a po my self but now i kinda feel sorry for them  i found out the info i was looking for and its 75k too franchise (info from a What /mag) i'd rather stick with the moblie phone biz,..they need to book more time off for them selfs,.. but then again thats the problem when ur running ur own business it all gets a bit too much sometimes.0 -
There is a lot of jobs out there that are stressful but the employees provide a decent service. And the PO has guideline for postage and it shouldn't be any more than this, just because the guy behind the counter say it is more than it should be doesn't mean that you should just believe him.0

My favourite do far is in Bridgwater. They closed the original large post office and relocated into Forbuoys newsagent (bad idea).
However I think they've got the counter design very wrong... I was asked to put my weighed parcel into the metal drawer they retract so it can be passed to the clerk on the other side. It went in on my side no problem but was too large to come out the other side. Who on earth makes a parcel hatch thats bigger on one side than the other!?
Funny thing was after the clerk had pulled and tugged and got it sideways it was stick fast from both sides. It took 2 people several minutes to extract my parcel from the counter drawer...0 -
Personally I just enjoy it !!!
Go in veryu chipper and chirp on about how ebay must be keeping rural PO open and how we must all do our bit - usually try to engage the que as well as very hard to be cross with a babbling blonde!
Then skip all the way home happy that I make more in 2 hours a day at home than they do in 8 grumpy hours0 -
Funny, I go into the PO, all happy and chirpy, come out feeling like I'd be an inconvenience to them.
Such a pity.0 -
why is everyone complaining so much? you think its your god given right to have the service of a post office. think of all the people who have to walk 10 miles a day to get a drink of water and you have to drive to the next village to post a parcel that you have sold for over the odds on ebay so you can afford to pay your cleaner minimum wage to wash your toilet. Put things into perspective people. Ohhhh a post offfice clerk was rude to me, quick lets get a couple of stamps compensation.Come to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0
