Miserable Post Office Worker

I know this has been covered loads of times but i wanted to share this with you's lot.
I was in the local PO this morning with 1 parcel to send.
The owner of the paper shop / post office was behind the counter.
It was a bit bigger than the usual stuff i send,
I went to put it on the scale and due to where he's got his scales i couldnt get it on properly.
So after a bit huffing and puffing he came round and fiddled with the parcel for a few minutes trying to get it on the scales.
He then spat the dummy and said i would have to take it elsewhere to be weighed i said okies and i wont be back in again to send anything from here.
Dont you think when Local PO'S are shutting left right and centre he would have made a bit more of a effort to keep his customer happy .

I would complain in writing to the Royal Mail/Post office (via internet) and the complaint gets passed to a regional manager who will take this up with the Post Office concerned
To be honest it really p's me off when the post office are like this, who do they think it is that keep them in business!

That's crap, he should be pleased to have the business. This reminds me of the bad old 80s when many places included pubs etc would act as if they were doing you a favour by being open.Happy chappy0

Thats a very good idea1jim.
I will write a email now.
Also you are dead right if it wasnt for ebayers using the local PO there would be a lot more shutting down.
Tom i have to agree with you about pubs in the 80's Newcastle was terrible for it .
The burly baldy lad on the door saying " you aint coming in here your hairs to short or you are to drunk " well excuse me thats why i am out paying over the top prices for horrible beer.

My local PO has just changed hands - I was really happy with the service given by the old owners and their staff.
The new postmistress seems fine and is still getting the hang of things but the new staff member is sort of too friendly and almost wants to know too much about what I'm sending if you know what I mean.
I'm not being a bit funny here, but I am more than happy to pass the time of day whilst the item is being weighed etc, but I don't really want to go into the ins and outs of what I'm sending. It is almost a relief to see the postmistress on duty and I am starting to feel a little uncomfortable with the other lady.
To go to another PO would be impractical for me as I live in a village and this is 'our village PO' if you know what I mean and I want it to carry on - perhaps I should come over as a little less friendly!
Maybe I'll just get used to the changeAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
Yesterday, me and my fiance went to post loads of Ebay items. They were around the 50p mark each, and the total came to £9! But the post office staff were really helpful and didn't moan or anything, and they called another member of staff to open the other counter so the queue wouldn't be long!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Sounds like a right nosey so and so to me Numberthree.
I am lucky there 2 other PO'S five mins away.
Its just i always used the one at the top of the street as i thought
A : its handy
B : its extra icome for them.
I think the problem with the one at the top of the street is he likes the money the PO bit brings in but doesnt like the work.
I have to say the lass that works there is spot on nowt to much trouble for her,
just a shame Mr Scrooge is a miserable git.

We have a local, small post office, but it serves a large area and seems quite busy...
Just lately I've been selling a large number of items, maybe posting 20-30 a day, all of which are recorded. I fill in all the details to save them time, know what they all weigh and mostly have the exact payment ready.
This still doesn't seem enough for local Mr Grumpy and I couldn't quite believe his attitude yesterday. I don't know how much money they will make out of me, it might not be much - I'm spending £30/£40 a day on these - but like others the attitude seems to be that I'm an unwanted distraction rather than a customer.
That was his last business from me. Vote with your feet - Asda here I come! It's further away but there's parking for free & loads of tills.0 -
I spend £20 to £40 postage a week from ebay & in general(i go to a few post offices) i am made to feel a nuscience.Like you said they should be happy for the business but i find im like a bad smell to them. they always say "Ebay??!!" as if i should get a proper job.Not to mention that i have been short changed or parcels mispriced a fair few times. Why are they mainly so miserable?? I drive miles to go to a half happy one.0

I had an unpleasant experience last year at this time with a grumpy counter clerk at my local post office. I had taken a parcel into weigh the previous evening and on being paid overnight I returned with a customs formed duely filled in, the large one in triplicate;the top copy with the addressees name and address in black felt and capitals. Only to be sworn at by the same counter clerk because I was causing him hassle by not putting the same address on the actual carton itself, evidently as the label is for customs and although it remains on the package and only the carbons underneath are removed this is not sufficient labelling. This was in front of a shop full of customers. He had not informed me that I had to have two labels. I took my parcel else where and immediately phoned and complained quoting the actual phrase and got two books of first class stamps and a letter of apology stating the clerk in question was to be repremanded. He has since left that office and I have started to use it again. Bad language equals two books of first class stamps has any one else done better?0
