My current Barclaycard 1% cashback card is coming to an end shortly. Is the Asda (£3 per month card) the best card to go to for cashback ?

It offers 1% cashback at all retailers and 2% at Asda.

You'll have to do some sums to see if it's worth the fee based on your spend. Also note that it doesn't pay cashback, it's vouchers for use in Asda.

Thanks. Yes, I noticed they have recently changed from cashback to Asda vouchers.
  • my MBNA amex card that gave me 1% cashback has now seemingly been the victim of the crazy EU nuts.

from 22nd Sept they are dropping any cashback. so another card in my wallet dies.

I know the EU stopping the likes of MasterCard charging 2% per transaction, I think it was, probably had good intentions but it hasn't helped me as a consumer strangely. the retailers still put the same price on stuff, I mean are the EU really stupid to think retailers are gonna go ooh we need to pass that saving on.

so ive had to dump my Capital one card and now AMEX.

I'm down to my Nationwide CC at pitiful 0.5%.

maybe once were out of the EU we can get back to decent cashback amounts.

or maybe they can reduce VAT to 15% where it should be. hey thinking about it many years ago we didn't have VAT !!!!!!!!!

If we leave the EU (which may well not happen once the onerous exit terms sink in) you'll have a lot more than a bit of cashback to worry about.

And as for VAT, before that we had Purchase Tax.

what's wrong with amex platinum cashback - which has been MSE top pick for ages? 1%+ cashback there.

  • On the face of it TSB are one of the few banks still doing 1% cashback cards (4 different ones in fact........)

I had the TSB advance card and have just noticed that after the first 3 months I was being charged interest (admittedly at a low rate) EVEN WHEN I PAID IT OFF IN FULL BY DIRECT DEBIT!!

I don't know how their other 3 cards compare but I've cancelled mine as I purely use a credit card to make money not lose it!

    Beware!!!!

I believe you've found the only card in the uk which doesn't give you an interest free period on purchase so long as you settle in full by the statement payment date.
  • Am looking for a new credit card which will give me some form of useful kickback... I do already have an AmEx, however I don't much like it as you can never rely on retailers actually accepting it.

Am considering an Asda card, which generates Asda cashback vouchers; but I have no Asda store anywhere nearby, which isn't great! However I'm in range of their delivery service, so I'd therefore like to know whether it's possible to use their vouchers when ordering stuff online - can anyone tell me? If so, I could cope with doing that every once in a while, to spend the vouchers?
  • Hello All,

    Advice needed please!

Used TCB whilst booking a series of hotel stays (Hotel.com).

Only one of the four visits registered on my account (funnily enough it was the cheapest one as well!!!)

I have tried to raise a ticket, however they have very unhelpfully said 'Can't do anything about it' as they are saying that they do not have the clicks registered, yet when I booked the hotel stays the pop up screen was displayed that stated that the visit had been registered.

Is there anything that I can do? I feel like I have been swindled out of about £40 cashback??

    Thanks in advance
