Post Office Opening Sundays

Options
Thought this would be best on ebay board where it might be useful information.

Went into my town centre post office last week to be told that all *bigger* post offices will be open (I think she said 10 til 4) for the 3 Sunday's in December upto Christmas. She said the PO's out of town/city centres won't be following suit unfortunatley.

This will be a first if it happens won't it?

There is nothing up in my main post office about it, and online they are showing normal trading hours up to Christmas, but i'll wait and see as that might be useful.

  • They was a sign up near the first cashier when I walked past it to go out. Maybe not everywhere as the signs up yet?

  • This wasn't the big PO with the sorting office attached but the smaller one at the other end of Huddersfield.

  • You can search check the opening times of branches via the Post Office website http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/finder?

It helped me out last weekend - I had an eBay item to post but it was 1500 - and most of the local post offices had at lunch time, but with the branch finder managed to find one (not even a large one) which was open until 2200 that evening! 0800-2200 every day to be exact.

Well we must be quite lucky here in the North East. We've a PO in an Asda store in Cramlington that's been open Sundays for the last year at least. I thought it was just a one off and judging by this thread it must be. It's also open until 8.00 at night!!!

My local londis has a post office in it, and they keep the post office open when the shop is open. Bank holidays, sundays (only till 12.00), open until 7.30 every night, and all day saturdays. They open also about 7 in the morning, so great if you have to go to work as you can go before work and not worry about doing it in your lunch hour!!!

Of course the post only gets picked up at normal times so if you post something after 12.30 on a saturday it wont leave until the monday but still a great service as it gets it out of the way.
