It gave Tesco the opportunity to investigate the batches produced and find out if any others were contaminated in this way. Thus they could be spared a rather expensive recall. Potentially, contaminated food can be a killer looks at the E Coli outbreak in Wishaw a few years ago.
Perhaps I am wrong to expect that having done them a service they would do likewise.Luckily I and my son were only ill for a day.
Hi, i don't mean to but in or anything, but i don't think they were saying not to complain, obviously people have to point these things out, i think the poster was just saying about expecting compensationMan who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

Hi no problem, it is sometimes hard to determine the finer nuances of the written word isn't it??? Perhaps I misunderstood, so thanks for pointing out an alternative meaning to what I took out of it!!The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes
When they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there

I had to complain to Warburtons about something in their rolls. They were so nice on the phone and suspected that it was just charcoled dough but to post it to themn at a freepost address. I did this and then a few weeks later I got a letter of them apologising and that it was indeed carcoled dough and included £5 worth of vouchers. I take my hat of to Warburtons.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

I think if people find something wrong with food and they have to take it back for what ever reason (therefore, not being able to prove anything later on). Taking a picture could help your case if you wish to persue the complaint further. Especially with the case of the 'alleged' uncoocked chicken, having a photo to persue your complaint could help you as i bet Customer Service doesn't even see the returned products.
Another added bonus is that they can be posted on here and be named and shamed.0 -
i think the problem is we all want / make something out of nothing these days.
I see no problem with them just giving your money back really... if they just gave away stuff left right and centre they'd be bust, lets remember, they are a business, not a charity... and mistakes do happen with products, including food, normally caused by human error, humans not that dis-similar to yourselves.
I dont really know what you expect them to do, they cannot turn back time... and a gift voucher doesnt really repair the problem either... so i dont see why anyone would want one.
Its just life, we used to accept it.
2. The OP has every right to complain and demand compensation for the illness caused. Even though it was not serious this time, as the OP points out there are illnesses which can be caused by contaminated meat/eggs/wahtever and the shop has a duty to their customers to make sure stringent guidelines and standards are followed, which in this case they were not.
If I were the OP I would go back to the store and ask for compensation and state that if nothing was forthcoming then I would be putting in a complaint to the Food Standards Agency/Trading Standards. You can't just sit back and let stores get away with things like this or they will continue to do so and think they are above the law.0 -
Unfortunately if you complain to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) they will refer you back to your local Environmental Health Department. As the complaint has already been dealt with by Tesco, there's little that they can do, unless you've still got the details that were on the packet (Use By, production Code, Barcode etc)
Personally, what I would do is write back to them indicating that whilst they've identified what was in the food, you are still not satisfied that this food was allowed to leave the factory. Stress as well that it made you and family members ill.0 -
when in britain did we start saying 'store' instead of 'shop'?
back on subject you have to complain - as already stated - for health reasons alone.
but also if any shop was producing unsafe or dodgy food then people would stop going there and they'd go bust. But these are not regular instances. if they were then tesco would get a very bad name and folk would stop buying their food.
I think cases like these are rare. the real problem is the attitude of the customer services. if i wasn't happy with the way i'd been treated i'd certainly consider taking it further. give tesco a wee fright / head-ache at least.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Complained about a tin of asda soup and 2 weeks later got a very nice apology and a £6 gift card so very happy.
But it did taste awful!!!0
