Mine goes into the general slush fund. The kids get clothed and shod, holidays, food, clubs etc. They get £2 per week pocket money (aged 6 & 4) and £25 per month goes into pensions for them which have been running for nearly 3 years.

my eldest 2 are 6 & 4 and dont have pocket money yet ? what do yours spend the money on ?

So, should they get any benefits assistance then?

Personal opinion is that is should be means tested, and no longer paid to persons earning more than the Tax Credits upper limit )£58K ish), and should be limited to 2 children only.

I agree that it should be means test, however NOT two 2 child maximum. This is totally impractical and on a slippery slope to state ordered abortion.

Alot of mums/families depend on the child benefit to survive, roof over their head, food, clothes etc. Limiting CB could mean that these families who are already under pressure feeling like they have no option but to abort.

You wouldnt take it off the people who already get it, you would start it from Xdate. People should not expect benefits to fund their choice of having 1, 2, 7, etc children. Contraception is free in this country.

Yes, Contraception is free, however if is not always allowed by religion.

Do you have any children yourself?

    Yes, planned. Thanks for asking.

For information, the only religion that frowns upon all birth control is Catholicism because the purpose of sex is to produce children. If you do not want to produce children then you don't have sex.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Why is it people who have little income seem to have the most kids?

One costs me enough so i have stopped there. Some people do bank on the fact more kids = more benefits. People should not be allowed to have so may kids if they can't provide for them themselves.

I don't even notice ours, it goes into the bank and direct debits gobble it back up. That's the bank for all our bills and things though.
Our daughter gets alot more than £18.80 spent on her per week, I'm terrible for buying her things!

I think there's a big difference between a family who use CB to supplement everyday bills and the children dont get new clothes, treats, outings etc (the family I grew up in!) and one that CB goes into the pot and the children do get treats, activities etc that arent limited to £18 a week (the family I'm raising now).
