Switching/cancelling, and what new company to go with?

We're with Plusnet and frankly get shocking speeds even though we're very near an exchange. They only accept the results of BT's speed tests which always say 8MBps but we're getting about 2, 2.5! We've had 8MBps broadband before and this is definitely not it, so all the other speed tests seem to fit in with what we feel the speed really is.

Anyway they've now changed their T&C's so I hope to be able to get out of our annual contract without penalty because of it. What I'm wondering is, am I still entitled to get a MAC code from them so I can switch to another supplier? And what supplier should I go with? We need probably a 30-40GB limit at least, and decent speeds. Don't want to pay more than £15/mo if possible.

I just rung them and they said I still have to pay the £40 connection fee for breaking contract, is this right?

Hi I was looking at starting with Plus Net and in their T&C's at the moment the connection fee and router is free unless you break out of the contract before 12 months - then I would have to pay this back. so maybe the person you were talking to thought you were thinking of leaving the contract early??

ive just re read your post and it sounds like you are breaking out of the 12month contract? in that case it looks like you probs will have to pay it...were the T&C's different when you joined then?
